jamess115
Hi Everyone, I have recently purchased some Maxmat to further help with sound deadening in the boot area - but this is heavy stuff so I have been toying with the idea of removing the Zed's Space-saver which weighs approx. 15 kilos to save weight. Has anyone done this ? Besides the obvious factor of having no spare wheel, any input as to the pro's & con's of doing this ? Thank-you Edited August 30, 2014 by jamess115
WhackyWill
If your going to remove your spare, I would put some pre-puncture sealant in the tyres and carry a few cans of Tyre Sealant as well.
Paddy78
Can't hurt, but removing weight from over the driven wheels may mean you lose a bit of traction? You might notice in the wet when turning sharp corners, but sounds like you are putting weight back in to replace it. I'm sure there are people who have removed it and haven't instantly come off the road! Just get some spray repair if you get a puncture. WhackyWill
You can always sell it here.. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/89865-space-saver-wheels-wanted-x3/
Wasso
I run a carbon boot, no space saver and have shed 30+kg from the rear. I'm still on the road and its 4.5 years without a spare.
JetSet
No, I've not removed mine. This happened to me in The States in a hire car, luckily on the last day I was there. Pete
The Chubby Ninja
I've had mine out for ages too and it still drifts and handles great, much better in my opinion too as it's not got such a big heavy arse
14N
Fitting a boot divider can help reduce the road noise from the rear and they only weigh 2kg. Well mine do. Just sayin'....
jamess115
You can always sell it here.. http://www.350z-uk.c...eels-wanted-x3/ Nice.. but I will probably hang onto it in case I need relay back home at 2a.m for eg..) and then out again to a garage following morning. Also, unless things have changed, wouldn't pre-puncture sealant invalidate any repair ? and these baby's are expensive to replace Edited August 30, 2014 by jamess115

hawker1986
I will direct you to my thread regarding why I keep my spare tyre in: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/87877-tyre-problems/ No amount of tyre sealant is going to fix that, spare wheel got us home though Ed
Rock_Steady
I've already searched this but to no avail, so...... what the hell is a space saver? and don't say "something that saves space"
Ekona
Spare wheel. It's not a full size one, hence space saver.
