Bluestreak
I ordered a mini a couple of months ago for delivery on Monday for the new reg, received a phone call yesterday saying that certain models, mine of which is one, have had a recall. A problem with the air bag apparently and it may take a month to resolve. Has anyone else heard of this cos I reckon they are talking bollocks? Thanks Chris
Ekona
Sounds plausible to me, new cars have issues all the time (a la 991 GT3). Airbags would be made by another supplier so that could account for the wait time. Why do you think it's bollocks? Surely the longer they delay it, the longer they have to wait for their money? Bluestreak
The cars coming off the production line now will not have the fault as they know about it and they must have the parts etc to rectify the fault. You could get the part over night. It doesn't take month to build a car.
WINKJ
cancel it... had far too many problems with Mini's to put me off for ever!

It could easily take a month to slot you back in the supply chain for a new airbag.
Bluestreak
I've worked in dealerships and we could get parts from JAPAN in 2 days, must have good dealerships!!!!!!!!!
Ekona
Re-designed parts from a third party? That require extensive testing due to being life safety?
WINKJ
It's karma! Starting as you mean to go on.. Get a jap car!!
Sarahhp18
Ring another dealer & ask the question or ring mini customer services.
Ekona
Not sure I'd bother with Mini customer services. Utterly incompetent when it comes to assisting anything. Dealer is a good one though, see if they can get your spec quicker or if the delay is genuine.
Bluestreak
Tried ringing another dealer and they said there was not a problem, but could be a fault not for public ears!
Bluestreak
Tried the same spec as well but will still have to wait for one to be made, might be quicker than a month though.
Jack wellZ
Only just come along this post and would say to maybe stay away from them because people like me build them aha! I see so many faults you wouldn't believe it! Also if anyone does order them, please! Keep it low spec
