N4eay
With the AC running at Idle the 350 sounds much better and to top it off the release bearing doesn't rattle, because that rattle to people who don't know much about cars or who are not mechanically minded means it's broken! Anyway, anyone know if there is a way of increasing the idle RPM to the same as if the AC is running?
WhackyWill
Just leave th A/C on all year around. Keeps you cool in Summer and stops the windows steaming up in Winter... PS. and I forgot to add..keeps your tick over regular.. Edited August 28, 2014 by WhackyWill
hensh65
Mines is the same, the is a pedal dance for doing the idle re-learn which might make it a bit better. You can also try cleaning the throttle body/MAF but the few 350s I have been in tend to run smoother with the AC on.
GMballistic
If it bothers you that much just leave the A/c on as Will suggested. It will also help keep the A/c from going t*ts up due to lack of use which happens all the time when people don't use it.
370Ad
Cleaning the throttle bodies on my 70 massively helped the idle. It was very low before around 550 rpm!
N4eay
Yeah, have been keeping it left on for the last few months. Will try cleaning the MAF's. Do you reckon it uses much more fuel? The AC system in the Mrs MINI seems to make that drink a lot more.
Stutopia
I've not done a test but I'd wager on such a beast of engine it barely notice if the AC is on. You could do an unscientific test on miles between fill ups, a couple on and a couple off?
-Bradders-
it does drink fuel alot more. i avg 38mpg with it off, about 31 with it on. mine also idles about 6-650rpm, about 800 with air con on.
WhackyWill
With mine on or off it make virtually no difference to the fuel consumption, its a big engine unlike a mini and takes almost no power away from the engine to drive the compressor. Azure350z
The air con uses about 4mpg on mine.
WhackyWill
The air con uses about 4mpg on mine. Doesn't matter if my air con on or off I get 13.5 mpg in Town...
Grundy
May as well keep your Radio off, Never turn your lights on and never brake if you want to worry about minor mpg
ilogikal1
May as well keep your Radio off, Never turn your lights on and never brake if you want to worry about minor mpg Never start or run the engine either; that'll save you so much more fuel!
