Humpy
Nope I have not driven one About 11 years ago a mate won an itv competition - 4 days over in Spain ( Barcelona) which involved a couple of days driving a reno F1. How jealous I was when he answered his mobile phone that day and we all thought he was joking.
Zeezeebaba
I did this at Thruxton some years back. Excellent fun.
Stutopia
Big go-kart isn't? Nail the throttle and pop the rear out on the bends. Easy Looks like it'll be tremendous fun, enjoy!!! Edited October 17, 2014 by SuperStu
14N
They're RWD. Do you think I'd get black flagged for drifting?
GMballistic
They're RWD. Do you think I'd get black flagged for drifting? No harm in trying. Hopefully won't be too wet for you tomorrow.
14N
OK, well, I survived. It was a good day out (a day out as the track was 2 hours from home). On reflection, I think I'm a little disappointed. Not in the car (it was a 2.0l RenaultSport with around 220bhp and 0-100 in 4 secs) - essentially a tuned Clio 182 engine bolted to carbon chassis that weighed about 400kg in total. It was more of a 'taster' rather than experience. The 'track' wasn't really a track, it was a coned off section of the runway. Basically you got to nail it up the (fairly long) straight, along one side of the runway until a chicane which was marked using (very) small cones, exit the chicane to make a wide U-turn, hammer it down the other side of the runway (3rd, 4th 5th gear) then brake to do another wide U-turn and then head back up to do it all over again. Yes it was good fun, but as it wasn't a proper track, you didn't really get chance to experience the car's potential, especially regarding corner speed etc. The car was stupidly fast accelerating in a straight line, but once you knew you were approaching a corner, you spent the time looking for cones, rather than 'following the road' (looking for curbs and the apex etc) if that makes sense? Like a lot of these experiences, by the time you start to gel with the car, it's time to give it back. Oh for just one more lap. I'm glad I did it, and driving the car was definitely an experience, but I really wish it had been on a proper track, I think I'd have got a lot more out of it. Oh, one more thing - My Zed tipped over the 100,000 mile mark on the way home Edited October 18, 2014 by 14N
GMballistic
Still sounds like good fun Ian. As you say though these things never last long enough and I'm sure you'd have enjoyed it more on a proper circuit too. Any video or pictures at all?
