RS8055
Hi guys, Really hoping you can help me out with this as the dealerships here in Luxembourg are horrific with their diagnostics. I was driving through the city today, when all of a sudden I noticed the Check engine light, ESP off light, and Traction Control light come on all at once including the hazards. I have not noticed anything different with the car itself in terms of operating, but was really hoping you could potentially shed some light on the issue? The only mods I have were a clutch, flywheel and Invidia Gemini exhaust system. Cheers, Ryan
Gudzy
If the check engine light is on, what is the error code its reporting?
RS8055
Sorry to sound like a complete amateur but how would I get the error code? Would that require a diagnostic at a garage?
brother_david
Google "error code 350z" and click the first result, from nicoclub
RS8055
When I saw the lights I pulled over and turned the car off. Then it struggled to start again. Got it home now. Only thing is that I left it for about 20 minutes, tried it again and it started no problem. But the Check Engine light is still on. Which leads me to believe there is an issue remaining. Can anyone please tell me if I absolutely need to hook it up to a diagnostic? Cheers
The Seasider
I think the CEL is only activated by emissions derived problems - some can be 1 off or transient - in which case you do a reset and it never comes on again, it'll be fine. Some will come back - which will indicate something that needs attention. In my experience it's usually MAF sensors (usually just need a clean) or O2 sensors (exhaust) which aren't usually an arm or leg. If it has stayed on - you'll need to get it read. Doesn't have to be a main dealer - many garages have the required equipment.
jumping350
if you want to find out what the code is you can do a 'pedal dance' google it and record the flashes (as they flash quick) and can get a code. If you want to find out whats wrong with the car I would say yes it needs the code read
RS8055
Code is P0340 - camshaft positioning sensor (drivers side). Will it be ok to drive until I get the replacement?
The Seasider
Probably just needs cleaning. I just did one on a Clio this week and it was easy - depends how accessible it is.
