Kerry
Hi I wondered if anyone could tell me the differences between the vortech V2 & V3 superchargers? I also wondered where is the best place to purchase a charger from and is there or will there be any group buys going on in the near future? Vlad
V2 has oil feed(from rngine sump) and drain lines, V3 has its own sump, so no need to have oil feed. That's it as far as I know
Kerry
Cheers Vlad your builds looking awesome given me a lot of motivation to get mine somewhere near your standard
GT4 Zed
The oil feed is the main difference but you also need to decide what Trim as this is also very important and determines the type of bearings, gear set, max rpm, impeller efficiency and ultimately power output. For the 350z these sc that will fit the std brackets V2 SC (discontinued): std bearing 52krpm V3 SCi = V2 SCi = std bearing 53krpm/improved cast impellers rom sc V2 Si = std bearing 53rpm/more efficient cast impeller V2 T = HD bearing 55krpm/cast impeller V1 T = HD bearing but bigger straight cut gears so stronger but noisier than the V2 >V3 V2 Ti (new) = HD bearing 55rpm/ more efficient billet impeller V1 Ti : as above V7 YSi = HD race bearing 65krpm/ cast impeller V7 YSi (new)= HD race bearing 65krpm/ billet impeller Personally I favour the V2 as it offers superior cooling but others prefer the simplicity of the self lubricated V3. But if you factor in the recommended sc oil changes it's not so simple or cheap. I have the V2 T trim which I've just sold for the new V7 YSi.

GMballistic
Kerry you have just missed a "group buy" on the Vortech V3 sci kit I'm afraid. Doubtful there will be another one for quite sometime but you never know. I'd speak to Chris at Tarmac Sportz as that's where I and quite a few other members got their superchargers from. OliverB
Has the higher operating temperature of the V3 been an reported as an issue for anyone? The changing of the oil for the SC does sound like a hassle, although as my engine is currently burning oil perhaps it would be a better option for 2006 models! Richf
Changing the oil on the V3 is a doddle and not expensive if you buy a few at a time around £17 a go Mind you I wouldnt suggest supercharging any engine thats burning oil !
OliverB
That's not so bad, how often is a change required? Don't worry, if I do give in to my S/C itch, it'll be following a full engine refurb and forged pistons & rods.
Richf
Thinks its every 7500miles but i did mine at 5k along with engine oil
evilscorp
the dipstick is a dick though on the v3
OliverB
More of a dick than the stock DE stick?
GMballistic
More of a dick than the stock DE stick? It's just poorly positioned on the V3 for the Zed. It's a right PITA to get out & back in again. It's doable though but just awkward.
