What have I damaged?

I recently refitted my stock strut brace but without realising it was screwed down and touching the plenum.

I drove it the next day for a couple of miles but realised when setting off it struggled to set off and had a grinding feel.

Having now removed the stock strut brace again all seemed fine but now after driving for around 45mins the grinding feeling returns and it struggles to set off without giving it more revs, with low revs there is a slight metallic noise and a feeling of a lack of power.

I'll be taking it in for a garage to assess but what are your thoughts on what might be the problem or what can I easily check myself?

Really cant see what you would have damaged by driving it for a couple of miles, the worst that could of happened would have been a cracked plenum but it doesn't seem like that your problem, it could have worn through the plenum if it was for an extended period, but for two miles it should be fine, i suspect the problem your experiencing is unrelated.

I guess its possible that with enough engine twist the brace could possibly cause an engine mount bolt to displace/bend or break, but that again is unlikely.

Thanks for the replies so far.

No check engine light on but I have decats installed and have been upreved so the O2 sensors wouldn't be giving a reading unless I'm mistaken. I'll plug my code reader in just to double check though.

I've say it likely that it is related as it is exactly the same feeling once it starts as when the oem strut brace was on that time. I was thinking something like an engine mount from not being able to vibrate, but unsure why it would only develop now when warm.

Could well be a problem with the caliper, I was told when I had my brake discs replaced that there was a slight problem with the front drivers side caliper and I should keep an eye on it. I've not noticed excess heat coming from it though when I've checked previously. Will definitely be worthwhile taking that caliper off and giving it a check over.
