CJRamze
So I've just had new pads/discs/fluid on the Zed. I've also had both the Alternator and AC belts replaced. So I decided to go and bed the brakes in like all previous cars I've owned (Warm them up, 8x60-10mph, Cool them off, Warm them up, 4x70-10mph, cool them off) When I accelerated hard to 60mph in 2nd/3rd when I lifted off the pedal there was this very odd squeak noise. This would only happen when I was giving it beans, If I was dawdling around there was no squeak. I didn't try dawdling up to 6000RPM but I can try that tomorrow. It almost sounded like suspension? but it sounded like it was coming from the engine bay. Maybe because the car was lifted off its wheels for so long? Has anyone else experienced this following Brake/Belt work? The mechanic did tell me it took him all day because everything was rusted in place but I'm not sure if he was referring to the brakes or the belts. I'm in work now solid for the next week so I wont really have a chance to ask him. Any ideas? Edit: it was the alternator belt. needed tightening. samsniss350z
If its been up in the air for a while your rear drop links might be failing. If you check on YouTube "rear drop links for 350Z" you'll find the type of squeaking you may be experiencing.
CJRamze
I've found this video, Mines not like the sound in this this is creaky. Mine almost sounds like a chirp from a dump valve... But more 'Mechanical' Is that the video you were referring to? Edited July 25, 2014 by CJRamze
samsniss350z
Yes, this was the video I was referring to. If the sound of the totally knackered drop links is nothing like the sound you're car is making I'm wondering if its the gasket at the top of the rear damper as when these fail they're known to make noises although I've never heard them described like that of a dump valve. CJRamze
Sorry to bring this up again for anyone wondering what the squeak was (Or if anyone searches this) it was a loose alternator belt As the winter crept in it got worse and worse. Took it back, tightented all up All sorted.
