Yellowgt4
Hi guys I just fitted cobra decats non silenced. And since this I am getting strong smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin. Also when in idle under hard acceleration there a grey/blueish smoke coming from the tailpipes. The smell is really bad. I have a video but don't know how to add it. I'm concerned that I may be doing damage to my car! There is a leak in my y pipe which is drawing in air and making a really loud noise too. Any help would be appreciated! wmr1980
Sounds like it's not been fitted well (no offence) did you put new gaskets on? Did you fit them flush or is did you have to "force" it in place? If it's leaking that much I'd stop using the car until you got it sorted really. pjf1985
My exhaust is blowing a little since fitting decats too, will it cause any damage? Got me worried now i kind of get a hissing noise when I lift off. Edited October 1, 2014 by pjf1985

Got me worried now i kind of get a hissing noise when I lift off. Can't see it causing damage, unless there is a massive hole and a stone gets sucked up into the engine Just need to source where it's blowing from. mouthwash
Depending on the location of the leak and the size couldn't it cause the engine to run lean?
pjf1985
I imagine its just where the decats have been put in there is a small gap how they're connected. Maybe I need new gaskets.

That smell is disgusting it actually makes me feel sick. The only thing I don't get it the blue smoke. I'm gonna invest in a new Y pipe soon and see if that sorts it at least a bit. That's what she 'Zed' :-/

Tricky-Ricky
If the leak is before the first lambda sensor which means it would have to be in the manifold and you would indubitably hear it, and it would affect the running, if the lambda sensor is seeing extra air from a leak it will increase fueling to compensate, otherwise if the leak is elsewhere downstream of the sensor it shouldn't cause a problem.
