rjohnson1993
hi guys, just got the car back from jez @ h-dev after getting him to diagnose what my problem is. He is certain it is a timing issue but cant define what. Its not the crank shaft sensor or cam shaft as he checked both of these. the car has a poor idle but drives fine, no power loss. does any body have any idea what it could be? getting a bit fed up with this car now.. thanks
Ewen@Clark Motorsport
did he rule out the chain being stretched?
rjohnson1993
Didn't mention that, what would I notice if it was this? I get error codes P0300 and p0011
rjohnson1993
Forgot to mention the car has had a new water pump and thermostat fitted recently. Problem has been there since (engine light, poor idle)
Ewen@Clark Motorsport
P0300 is a random misfire and P0011 is Intake valve timing control so it could point to and issue with the chain/tensoner what mileage has the car covered?

Ewen@Clark Motorsport
Wouldn't imagine it would be a chain issue at that mileage, might be worth a call to Mark at abbey to see if he has any ideas

rjohnson1993
its defintely a timing issue. heres what i know timing is 17% retarded on bank 1 checked fly wheel, crank shaft sensor and cam shaft sensors (made no difference) error codes p0300 and p011 waterpump and thermostat were changed 2 days before light came on, been on ever since could there be an issue with the tensioner?? I would say that they have allowed the chain to drop off the crank sprocket during the water pump change, but in theory it should affect both stets of cams. M13KYF
earthing issue??? more detail please? just with it being on tick over. A bad earth can cause some irregularities. As the revs build there is more current so less of an issue. May be worth seeing if a grounding kit helps. Just a thought
rjohnson1993
if the timing chain has stretched or was tensioned properly am i looking at any other engine damage? pistons, valves??
