HEADPHONES
After 9 yrs of ownership I've got my first puzzling problem. The zed has recently started throwing tcs, esp and abs lights on after a few minutes of driving. All come on simultaneously. Lights go off on restarting car but only to return after driving a few minutes. Problem started with the onset of the warm weather. Had my 05 zed from new. 47k on the clock. Last service 500 miles ago. New pads 5000 miles ago. Fluid levels all at max. Pedal dance just shows code 0000 ie no faults. Tested car on start up before warning lights come on. Abs works. Full throttle with full steering lock triggers the tcs and cuts the power while the light flashes as it should. Not sure how I would test the ESP system So anyone experienced anything similar? Thought I'd ask here before contacting my indie garage as it doesn't seem to be a routine servicing issue and I don't want to be charged just for them to tell me the ecu isn't throwing any codes and they can't help
Gudzy
Check your brake fluid again, those lights can come on when the level isn't exactly on maximum. Also check your brake lights are coming on, I had a problem with those warning lights displaying which turned out to be the brake switch wasn't working. PageyUK
I'd start by getting the battery and alternator tested. Is the battery the original one?
Almeida1234
As above If you got a multi meter you can start trouble shooting
A9H-RX
Make sure your brake fluid is "BRIMMED TO THE MAXIMUM" This should sort your issue
Beavis
Yep check the brake lights are working. Check the connector on the brake pedal switch has not come dislodged. This happened to me last year and even had Nissan baffled!
-Bradders-
Had this issue 3 weeks back, turned out the brake light fuse had blown, one way to check is you say it comes on after a few minutes of driving, turn your ignition on, and then press the brake pedal, they should all come on then, then your issue is likely to be switch or fuse
HEADPHONES
Thanks for all the replies. I don't know why I didn't think to check the brake lights:d'oh: Well, the high level light isn't coming on at all and the brake light led's come on only faintly. Even dimmer than the rear lights that come on with the headlights. I will see about checking the fuses first.
Gudzy
My lights were like that and changing the brake switch fixed it.
HEADPHONES
On further reading it seems my symptoms do indeed seem identical to the brake light switch failing. Will try Clarke Motorsports for a part. The guide I found on my350z says it's a 45 second job. I'll report back probably having spent 2 hours on it
HEADPHONES
Unplugged my brake switch today. Clicked the relay several times. Cleaned the contacts. Replaced. BRAKE LIGHTS NOW WORKING. ALL DRIVER AIDS BACK TO NORMAL Still ordering a new switch as I reckon the old one is 9 yrs old and probably dying. So to Gudzy, Beavis and Grundy for correct answer and further thanks to everyone else who offered advice.
Beavis
And the reason the warning lights come on is because if pressure is detected in the braking system and the brake lights have not illuminated then the ecu detects a fault and throws the lights on.
