jordster
Hi guys, Been reading many of the posts on here and just getting confused. Basically I've got a 2005 GT (UK) with low mileage and am after some more umf! The car is running with japspeed exhaust system which I keep the silencers out and run only on Shell nitro + which in my opinion is the best for feeling a bit more power. Anyway I'm after some cheapish mods to get a bit more power. I'm after anything from 10-30bhp with mods that won't affect the MOT and don't cost a fortune. I've been reading on the intakes but am just getting confused as all I can seem to find is that they give you a better sound - got that already with the japspeed exhaust. Anyway help or advise as I don't mine spending a few £'s to get a bit more of a boost!! Thanks,

jordster
Ha ha - I'm trying but the diet ain't going so well!! My plan is to get around 20-30 bhp ideally for a bit more grunt then start spending money on styling and bodywork options!!
lmc
Has it been mapped?
MITZ@CougarStore
Self cancelling ECU means exhaust and induction kits will only be for noise and not extra power...

jordster
Not been mapped no. Wondered if it was best to do other things before having it remapped to get the maximum benefit?
lmc
Not been mapped no. Wondered if it was best to do other things before having it remapped to get the maximum benefit? You'll get most of the power your looking for from a remap complete with a totally transformed drive.
Ken
Do mods before you go for a remap, and you will have to spend a few pounds . Remap alone will cost you £400.00+, but after that you may not get +30bhp, each zed is different for gains.
baggedZ
The VQ motor isnt the best n/a motor for tuning. Certainly into the £0000's even for the basic mods. If i was to do it all again id jump into FI
rtbiscuit
To make 30 BHP gains your looking at spending probably £1500, even then there is no gaurenteevyou'll even get close. Edited June 25, 2014 by rtbiscuit
ZMANALEX
Spend about a grand including map, excluding cats, and you may get 10 - 20bhp, however the drive will be improved. Alex. Edited June 25, 2014 by ZMANALEX

Ekona
Or you could do the brakes, the tyres and some driver training and actually go faster.

Even if you bullsh*t for Britain and tell the whole pub you've got 800bhp they're not going to believe you when a diesel Astra van with a remap flies past you.

Level 7 Boss
Or you could do the brakes, the tyres and some driver training and actually go faster. This should be the stock response for those that "want power on the cheap"
Adam rs
Sell the car and buy a faster one. Ive spent a fortune on 14bhp My evo gains more than that on a cold day!
