skahigh
Only a very small issue but, on occasion, if I press the boot release button the boot will unlock and pop open but is then stuck if I try to lift it. I have to press the boot release again. Any ideas why this happens? Is it just the weight of the boot not allowing it to lift properly or do I need to hold the boot release button slightly longer? hensh65
I had the same issue when I fitted the nismo spoiler. The boot wouldn't even stay open due to the weight but I took out the boot weight which sorted the problem
brillomaster
three options for this: 1. take boot trim off, remove boot weight 2. stick pennies in the boot springs, or get new ones from zmanalex 3. get new gas struts, sgs engineering
brillomaster
mine does the same, three pennies in each spring sorted it right out, one touch and lift. however, if its cold or the boot has water on it, the struts don't always hold it up... WhackyWill
Ha, a fix that literally costs pennies! Great stuff, thanks guys. Take out the boot weight as well, takes 10 mins. there is a thread on here on how to do it.
14N
Get the springs reconditioned for about £15 iirc by a member on here. Check the member traders section. Mine are still going strong. A great upgrade
GMballistic
Ha, a fix that literally costs pennies! Great stuff, thanks guys. I used nylon washers to fix mine (less chance of ripping through the rubber I thought) ~ does the trick. Here is the guide either way; http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/35706-the-penny-trick/
Stutopia
Replacement struts won't assist with the pop, the angle is too flat for that. Rubber washers inside the pop spring covers or sticky bumpons on the oustide of the pop spring covers will held. Boot weight removal helps both and increases MPG and makes the car faster Edited June 17, 2014 by SuperStu
