The good news is that its a fellow forum member, who should keep it looking good, and probably use it a lot more than I managed. He has more plans for the car but I will let him take over on forum, and keep you updated. So a big thankyou to all on here....the little bits of info over the last year and a half have been very helpful. The banter along the way was an added bonus. I'll be hanging around on forum for a bit, as still unsure whats next on the car front. Wife has visions of a VW Camper ....hell no. My heart say another V8, but my sensible head says a Scoobie / Golf R or the likes. Have a few bits n bobs that the new owner didn't want / need, so these will get posted in for sale section shortly. FWIW - third car i've sold in a row thats went to a respective forum member without being advertised elsewhere. Thankfully means I haven't had to deal with tyre kickers.....and on that note, I'm off to route around pistonsheads / autotrader and become said "tyre kicker". The only thing is the M3V8s look so boring, XFRs are still too expensive and I can afford to keep replacing rear tyres and the big Merc V8s. Wife has just piped up and says she likes 997s....cause they are cute Youngest boy wants a Camero in yellow!!! Kev Posted June 15, 2014 Share Posted June 15, 2014 It was wheels, lowered suspension and a few carbon fibre bits. I think the biggest problem with early e92's are the wheels. They're fugly. There was a very nice SC blue one a while back on Pistonheads....might see if still for sale. Kev - fugly wheels!!! You surely meant FUGLY wheels. The guy at BMW who said "nice" should have been shot. BUT the comp wheels are stunning, and totally change the car. I had a brief jaunt in M3V8 many moons ago and at the time thought my RS4 was a better car (sunny Scotland)......but I still need to tick the box so on the list. That's what is said until I drove a DCT. It's a brutal, evil, scary gearbox. Easily as good as a PDK. The manual is disappointing. Some say changing the gearknob for a shorter one makes a difference but I can't see it being a drastic improvement. Scoobie 330s - nearly then read horror stories on engines going pop. Golf R - very nice but also very boring. M3 V8 - couldn't find a decent one for cash I wanted to spent. Megane 250 - white one local to me but its still a Megane. Focus RS - viewed a nice one but wife reckons it looked sh*t (very fast though...was surprised !) So ended up buying a..... Porsche Caymen S. Yes I know, not 4 seats, not practical etc etc....but never had a Porsche and the 3.4S seams to be the the pick of the baby porsches. Also helps that if you sqint it looks like a beetle!!! But another one off the car "bucket" list. First views? The 350z if defo gruntier around town. Then I reved the porsche and over 4500 rpm , feels faster than the 350z. Build quality is better (obviously), and layout if better inside. And Porsche brakes have a very nice feel, even from cold. Who did the geo? There's a proper geo by an expert, and then there's just getting it back in the green. The chassis on these cars are so good, you'll get the best out by going to the specialists. I take it you didn't get an inspection done before hand? If not, and at fear of terrifying you, google RMS and especially IMS failure.
