Zhorno Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 My 350 has the hids but there not very good , a lot of people agree can you just change the bulbs to higher k Eg 6k is legal 10k is better but not legal Only reason I say this is cus I put a h.i.d kit on my van 10k and it's amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
blaqkaudio Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Yes you can just change the bulbs over...10k is a little much I think though. Here's mine when I changed them over to 8k, bright white with a nice subtle blue tint Standard left --- 8k right Most new cars nowadays have lights as bright as this anyway, some with even more of a blue/purple tint...Mercs / Audi's / Jags etc... You won't attract any attention as long as your not driving like a loon, hope that helps Quote
KyleR Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 4300k - 5000k are the best you can get from a visibility point of view, but 6000k - 8000k are the most aesthetically pleasing. Quote
Zhorno Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Is it the same connection and all that , goes into a ballast like the h.i.d kits you get? Also can Somone tell me which bulb they take ? Saves me taking my bulbs out to look then putting it back till I order some Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
KyleR Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 HID kits and OEM HIDs are very different. Is your car a UK model or an import with stock HIDs, or has a HID kit been fitted? Quote
Zhorno Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 It's uk gt model 54 plate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
parello9 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 i want to upgrade mine too.. its just a long process as you have to remove bumper Quote
Zhorno Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Really ? Surly you just change the bulb ? Surly they wouldn't design it so u have to take bumper off to fit a new bulb ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
BulletMagnet Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Bumper is relatively quick to remove, other alternative is to remove wheel and get in from behind the wheel arch liner Edited June 8, 2014 by BulletMagnet Quote
parello9 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 you can got through the splash guards next to the wheel i think but apparently its a bit awkward.. My car is sitting on the floor so there is no tire gap to even get a finger in there let alone your arm lol Quote
Zhorno Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Well my Bumper is off atm anyway so would be easy lol Any1 point me in the right direction off we're I can get the bulbs ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
KyleR Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 You need D2R bulbs. I got mine off eBay for about £20. You can pay £70 per bulb or a pair for a tenner, so I decided £70 was outrageous and £10 was too cheap and likely to blow. Quote
KyleR Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I bought the 8000k version of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D2R-6000K-HID-Xenon-Light-car-headlamp-2-Bulbs-12V-35W-/230666406329?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b4ca09b9 Quote
