RDON Posted June 5, 2014 Share Posted June 5, 2014 On the Saturday afternoon a karting event will be held at Amen Corner Kart Centre about 10 minutes drive away. The proposed format of the event can be either of the two below depending on the most chosen option by you! I will need a list of names of those taking part ASAP and you will need to pay a deposit of £25 via PayPal to: shop@zclub.net giving your forum name and proper name and address. Please add you name to the list and race option you would prefer once you have paid the deposit. Amen Corner Karting has a 550m pro-kart circuit, I have been here before and it’s a great track with some flat out straights and exiting the final corner! (If you have the bottle!)They have a great set up and it’s well run. Here are the two race options we could choose depending on the consensus! The double sprint format is pre-bookable in advance as a private session. It will consist of two 15 minute sessions with a short break in between. The karts will start from the pits with a small gap between them and be scored on fastest lap. Each driver will get a print out of their lap times A trophy medal will be given to the fastest driver. Format - Two 15 minute sprint races with a break in between. Costs - £35.00 per driver. Endurance racing is a team event where the group is split up into a number of separate teams (min 5 max 14) which race against each other. Each team consists of between 2 or 3 drivers (up to 5 max if at least a two hour race) and operates a single kart which is shared between the team drivers on a rota basis. First a practice session is held where all drivers get at least 5 minutes circuit time to perfect their skills before the main race. The grid positions for the start of the main race are determined by lap times in practice, the team with the fastest lap gets pole position, through to the slowest at the back (out of harms way !). After practice there is only one long endurance race, the object being to get the most laps on the team kart in the time available. The team with the most laps wins the honours. The race is from a standing start and team members are left to themselves to control their own driver changes. Obviously pit stops are required to change drivers as they tire, each driver staying on the circuit about 5 to 10 minutes at a time before changing. Trophies are given to the winning team members. Minimum event is for 5 teams racing for 60 minutes including practice (min 7 teams at weekends). Maximum is for 14 teams and as long as you can afford. COST - £70 per team for first hour. If there were teams of 2 this would work out at £35 each which is the same as the double sprint format but you get longer racing time and more fun with pit changes etc!
