JohnUKVetteNut
Hi It appears that I have to replace ( got from Zmanalex..brilliant service) the lower steering knuckle that connects steering shaft to steering rack. It looks easy ( famous last words ) but has anyone actually done this/ Advice on how to would be greatly appreciated !! Cheers JohnUKVetteNut
ZMANALEX
Lub the knuckle with WD40 or similar and scrub the splines with a wire brush Lock the steering wheel from turning. Remove both bolts from the knuckle. Gently slightly prise open the slots in the knuckle. Knock the knuckle up the steering column shaft until it clears the rack. Then knock the knuckle downwards and remove the knuckle. Reassembly is the opposite of above. Do not use excessive force when knocking the knuckle up the shaft. Make sure that you lock the steering as you will damage the clock spring if you turn the steering column when disconnected from the rack. Alex.
