P1283 After Milltek and Berk HFC's

As per title, my car (Its a 2005 GT4 so a DE UpRev) threw a P1283 after having the Milltek system and Berk HFC's fitted. My understanding is this is a lean shift on bank 2 sensor 1.

Its been back to Japex to have spacers fitted to the second sensors however this hasn't cured the problem as we hoped.

Ross has done a bunch of tests and the O2 sensor (1) on bank 2 is working fine as far as he can see.

We have got a new sensor that could be swapped in but obviously there's not a lot of point if its not going to make a blind bit of difference.

This might be completely irrelevant as Im by no means an expert but I recorded a few journeys with my OBD reader and since having the spacers fitted the shot term fuel trim has changed from being something like -25% on one bank, dont remember the other reading, to being within 6% of each other. The journey I recorded logged bank 1 as -10.9 and bank 2 as -5.5 short term fuel trim.

I've done a search on here and seen things about swapping the sensors round, (bank 1 and bank 2) which Ross is going to try on Monday but was hoping you guys might have some other thoughts.

Ross also suggested getting Abbey to do a remap (I've left a voicemail with Mark) and I believe I saw something about the RevUp tune being able to switch off that error code/the rear sensors.

Cheers.

Dupe post but my post below is broken in Tapatalk for some weird reason :S

cmck13 - If your using tapatalk for some reason my reply isnt displaying, no idea why!

This was my response which still wont appear in tapatalk.

Not yet. My understanding is that the ECU de-tunes itself back to factory power until a remap is done but it shouldn't throw a CEL without the remap. It was suggested by Ross as I mentioned and it is something on my list but there's no point until I get my plenum spacer fitted too otherwise I'll have to get it mapped again.

Not sure if I've got this right did you have a remap after fitting the berks and millton? If not then that could be the issue, quite a common problem if you didn't get a remap done.

Sounds like you have a dodgy A/F sensor 1 on Bank 2.

Alex. :)

Ross has a replacement sensor but hasn't fitted it yet. He tested the current one which he said is working fine so doesn't want to replace if if he doesn't need to. He did say it could be an intermittent thing though.

Cheers for the replays guys. As I mentioned Ross is going to swap bank 1 and bank 2 on Monday as recommended by Mark at abbey in another thread. Will keep you posted. Any other thoughts please let me have them :)

It is the rear sensors that you can turn off and not the fronts.

The fronts must remain functional as they serve a completely different function to the rears.

I thought as much. Im always keen to learn, what exactly do the rear sensors do then? What do they measure and how does the car use that info?

When I had my Invidia exhaust system and Berks HFC's fitted same thing.

Just get an UpRev remap and all will be fine again plus it will run a lot better as it will be mapped for the mods you've added. ;)

Its on my list along with a plenum spacer ;)
