mouthwash
Oh jheeze! Get ready for the flurry of "You must get MPSS or die" quotes! bit unfair i mean they do stop you from hitting cars in front of you, and they actually make your turn on a cross road in a city without spinning off and taking out a line of pensioners waiting for the bus
brillomaster
cheapish decent tyres, have a look at Hankook Ventus V12s - very nearly on a par with bridgestone, goodyear, dunlops and so on, just a little bit cheaper. as for kumhos or avons, a friend of mine ran avons on his mini cooper s, and that stuck like glue round corners so i'd have to recommend avons! My other half has Avon ZZ3s on her Cooper S, she seems happy with them and it's what the Mini specialist recommended. Also, I think I linked some Ventus V12s last page, £112 or something from tyre leader for standard Rays rear and about £108 for fronts. AliveBoy
I'm running them on the Rear People make out bad, unheard of tyres will make you feel like you are driving on ice... I was on a budget and short time scale, and the only tyres I could get fitted were Nangkangs. Only had them on for a week, but don't see what all the fuss is about. Haven't driven it hard, as I was bedding the tyres in, but I've been driving around town, motorway etc - Doesn't feel anything different to my old bridgestones. You're not going to die with them on I'm sure someone will be along to tell me I'm an idiot and my car is going to implode for running them. give a few days yoll be doing this because of them Hey look, I found an example of a 350z on [insert chosen tyre brand here] tyres, only had them on for 30 miles! If only he was able to afford MPSS! The tragedy!
Ekona
I'd take the Kumhos, out of the two options. Good tyres are important for when the unexpected happens, not for pootling along in a straight line.

onthatB0MBSHELL
I've a pair of Kuhmo on the front of my Z, they were on her when I got her, I've added about 20K to them, loads of thread left but this is the sidewall, guess it's an age thing. Think they are 2008. Edited May 22, 2014 by onthatB0MBSHELL

Think they are 2008. Tyres are supposed to be ok for 10 years from manufacture. There's a way to tell when they were made so you can check. Do you use lots of tyre dressing? The silicone in a lot of tyre shine products dries the rubber out and makes it crack over time.

KyleR
I have the KU39's. Been on the car since last February and not a single problem with them, except in the first few days on a greasy morning when the back end overtook me on a roundabout Thats more to do with shiny tyres than anything else I think. I think I'll give the MPSS a go when the back tyres die, just too see what all the fuss is about.
roscopervis
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the best price to performance ratio tyre for the Zed currently is the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2. Also, Tyrereviews is a good website that collates lots of tyre tests from all sorts of places and real life testimonials too.
Andyhut
I bought a set of kumho ku39 a couple of months back from tyreleader and they are great, got 2 x 245/35/19 and 2 x 275/35/19 for £400. Had bridgestone re40's on the back before and the back end was very tail happy but with the kumho's have had nothing, the only thing I would say is that they are soft so don't expect them to last as long but at the price you just can't go wrong. Yeah they are def 2008, no I don't use any tyre shine on them at all, but maybe last owner did, I know car sat idle for about a year before I bought her? Only one tyre has this problem, both tyres same age 2008.
