Richy Posted May 13, 2014 Share Posted May 13, 2014 I have recently bought a new 370 Zed, and having been on here for a little while now am obviously considering a new exhaust. Would this affect the warranty on the car ? Not much else I want to change, haven't got moditis, though I would like to get the door handles changed to match the midnight blue of the car. They just look huge, and ugly ( ) to me in silver. Not a worry now, but when I need the first service, do I have to go to a Nissan dealer, nearest one is in Aldershot. I have read good reviews of guys on here, one who specialises in GTR's and Zed's (sorry can't remember his name), and would be happy to drive a decent distance, to know I am getting the best. Will370z Posted May 13, 2014 Share Posted May 13, 2014 Exhaust may invalidate the warranty, as the car is no longer standard- call guy in aldershot to confirm as you may as well be 100% sure. You will need the nissan service to maintain the warranty. Again aldershot have been excellent for me over the past 4 years and I would definitely recommend them as they have bent over backwards to help. A little further afield is the tunbridge wells nissan garage and they are brilliant too. P.s. Good to hear the local Nissan garage is sound. I need my daughter to put photos on here. I can just about use a camera, but that is it. I am just about the only person that doesn't own a mobile phone, and posting on here is about the limit of my technical skills. Unfortunately my daughter is 19, and is never home ! Once up"loaded it will give you an image link. Copy that and paste it in a thread here and the image will appear. If you get stuck just shout. Ebized Posted May 14, 2014 Share Posted May 14, 2014 I changed the exhaust in the first few weeks of picking up my 370 in January 2010 and had the car serviced at Motorline, Tundbridge Wells for 3 years, who I and others have found very fair and helpful. Nissan agreed to a gearbox change just before warranty expiry and the exhaust (and some other non OEM parts) didn't get thrown at me as an excuse not to do the work. Will370z Posted May 14, 2014 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Reason I say confirm it with nissan to be safe is that The gtr specialist in aldershot stated that the gtr is the only nissan car that officially permits a modification to the exhaust system, and only I believe the cats but can't remember specifically, without invalidating the warranty. After all the car is no longer standard and if an issue can be tracked back to the exhaust then it would be fair for nissan to not support that warranty. Now in the real world many people do put exhausts on and warranties still stand so you should be fine. I changed my exhaust and had no issues with warranty work, but none of the issues related to the exhaust. I'd do it again sure but it was interesting what the salesman said about the gtr and the warranty stating explicitly that the exhaust could be modified with no impact on cover, unlike other nissan a. just saying might be better to confirm up front and be safe just in case. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I will check though, and in the meantime put up with the wheeze that comes out of the existing exhaust. On another matter I filled up the car today, and was surprised to see my range was 402 miles. I`ve never seen the range showing more than 300 & odd miles even though it does do over 400 on a full tank. It just shows 300 & odd and then keeps re adjusting after several miles to show another 300 & odd. Think it doesn`t like to be too optimistic showing over 400 from the start of a full tank ! Suits Posted May 16, 2014 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I'm sure it used to be that any modification other than OEM would invalidate everything. However, after the whole servicing reshuffle thing that also affected various car rights and limitations, it was altered so that if a part of the car failed and no, non-OEM parts where attached to it then it was still covered under your consumer rights. If a part of the vehicle failed because there was an aftermarket part directly attached to it, then the failed part was being operated under non agreed standards and the warranty would be void. People also seem comfortable leaving 350s for service there despite the predominance of micras and chashcows. Btw the 370 looks stunning in midnight blue. When the car is due it's service I may leave it there and have a game of golf at Cooden with my mate that got me the car. He did say it was the only new one they have sold, though I think they have a second hand white GT automatic for sale at the moment. Midnight blue looks superb, but the silver door handles just don't go. They look huge. Matching blue would look good, so will see about getting them done. I have the red calipers which look 'interesting' with the blue, but alloys are not graphite. Think you only get those on the Nismo.
