Floydbax
Well after reading the benefits of doing this on the US Z site I thought WTF, why not? So I bought some of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/400636718559?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0 Got my driver set out (T20 Torque), removed the sensor, sprayed it from 6" away a few times. Refitted it and ................................... well WHAT A DIFFERENCE, it didn't even look dirty but WOW, the car feels very different!!! Smoother, more eager, not that it didn't feel OK before but I'm amazed at the difference such an easy thing can make. Just waiting to see if the MPG increases now - will update if so!!
BulletMagnet
You can also use Electrical Contact Cleaner from Halfords, if you need to clean in a hurry
Floydbax
Only done 10-15 miles and didn't zero the gauge but it's already up to 17.2 from the usual 16.3 - so it's deffo making a difference!!
BulletMagnet
Reminds me to do mine actually, it's been like 50K miles since I last did, lol
Vlad
Cleaning MAF helps, but I wouldn't do it often! When I spoke to Mark@Abbey during remap...one if the things I said that I've cleaned MAF sensor. He advised that it has a very thin protective film over sensor and they found that cleaning using contact cleaner and other stuff - eats that film away, which can't be good I suppose doing it ones won't do much harm
BulletMagnet
Find out what that film is and re-apply? Surely it can't be hard find out what chemical is used to coat the wire Edited May 13, 2014 by BulletMagnet
Vlad
Possibly! Didn't ask that question
BulletMagnet
Quick scour on tinternets suggests it's a glass coating. And never to clean it when hot or warm
