Sy1441
Right, became a bit obsessive with buying different detailing things over the past 2 months but in all honest have no idea what i'm doing. I get the whole wash, polish, wax, maintain thing to a point. I've got DJ Ferris Dueller Iron Remover DJ Basics of Bling Quick Detailer Autoglym Hi-Resin Polish Meguiars Cleaner Wax Meguiars Lambswool Mitt Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel Poorboys Trim Restorer Wonder Wheels U Poorboys Wheel Sealant Rain X Leather Upholstry Valet AutoGlym Shampoo Conditioner Nilfisk C110 Pressure Washer Snowfoam Lance (as recommended on here) Valet Pro pH Neutral Snow Foam Turtlewax Upholstry Shampoo Farecla G3 Scratch Remover A Waxy Box en-route. & Lots of products I bought the weekend I got the car from Halfords which have pretty much all turned out to be ropey at best so will likely live in a cupboard under the sink. Now yesterday I got back to my car to find what looked like an emu had taken a dump on the bonnet and today it looked like I drove through a swarm of supersize sandflies as there were literally around 100 marks front of the car. I've more more products than you can shake a stick at but which one do you use on this occasion? Also, someone mentioned that the wax I have is meant to be used in lieu of polish, whats an alternative? Stutopia
I'd probably go at it like this (not saying it's right, just what I think I'd do): Nilfisk C110 Pressure Washer + Snowfoam Lance + Valet Pro pH Neutral Snow Foam DJ Ferris Dueller Iron Remover Nilfisk C110 Pressure Washer Wonder Wheels U Nilfisk C110 Pressure Washer Meguiars Lambswool Mitt + AutoGlym Shampoo Conditioner Sheet water from open hose Towel dry Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner Autoglym Hi-Resin Polish Meguiars Cleaner Wax Poorboys Trim Restorer Rain X Poorboys Wheel Sealant Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel Turtlewax Upholstry Shampoo Leather Upholstry Valet DJ Basics of Bling Quick Detailer No idea bout the Farecla. Keep the waxybox for next time. Less is nearly always more with cleaners, polishes and waxes. Take your time. Check your work as you go. PS - I'm sure some totally different approaches will be along shortly Edited May 6, 2014 by SuperStu
ilogikal1
You don't need to use Ferris Dueller more than a couple of times per year (and it works better on a dry car too - so wash & dry before applying Ferris Dueller). For a weekly/fortnightly maintenance wash, do the same until the towel dry then skip to the wax and/or QD (depending on whether the wax needs topping up or not).

For bird poo or any general dirt I want off quickly, I just use an cheap micro fibre (the ones I got from B&Q ) and a Quick detailer (I use chemical guys speed wipe) Edited May 6, 2014 by Randy_Baton
roscopervis
Maybe invest in a claybar and Use the Farecla for scratch removal, if you have scratches that are visible but not too deep so as to go down to the paint. Also, the Megs cleaner wax is quite similar, but not as good as Autoglym's Polish, despite what each are called. You need a good last stage product (LSP). As far as waxes go, Bilt hamber's Finis Wax is about as good as it gets right now. Super durable. If you prefer sealants (synthetic waxes) then Sonax are making some great products. Their Xtreme Protect & Shine Hybrid NPT is really good stuff. Otherwise I'd concur with the above Sent from my AT10LE-A using Tapatalk Edited May 19, 2014 by roscopervis
