Keyser
Nice work mate Ref the water - If its coming under the dash on the passenger side I would point you at the air in let under front windscreen, if you take the outside plastic covers off between the windscreen and bonnet there is a plastic strip on the back of the passenger side one, I have seen those damaged or snapped off, that allows water to run in through the inlet, it then drips down from the fan in front of the passengers knee. Hope it helps Edited November 14, 2015 by Keyser

djtimo
Few new bits for the zed today! Anti-sub strap for my 4 point harness to go tot 5 point. Light weight alu battery holder. Extra heavy duty battery and ground cable. Brake caliper temp strips. (See if I'm over heating the Motul brake fluid) Carbon sheet for blanking off the bose head unit space And a TRS soft tow strap for the rear to match the front. djtimo
Started a little work on the zed this afternoon.. Looking at mounting the battery holder.. Battery removed and trim off... Heavy duty cable run through bulk head grommet.. Into the car. Fed though into the boot area. Alu holder drilled ready for riveting. Car drilled and single rivet in.. Painted the holes just for extra rust protection. In place. Battery in place but not fixed down.. More work on this tomorrow when its light again
djtimo
Little more done on the lightweight zed quest.. Dash centre removed. Passenger side airbag cover removed. Air bag unit. Air bag and mounts on passenger side plus head unit and brackets removed and dash refitted. Dash where head unit is removed will be blanked off with carbon fibre sheet. The head unit and air bag set up have removed more weight from high up and in the front end of the car. plus my battery relocation has helped this massively. Air bag unit head unit. Bose amp. Sound deadening from rear quarters X 2 Rear bulkhead plastics. weight removed = 9.470KG Edited November 17, 2015 by djtimo

djtimo
great Idea to log all the weight changes. Ill weigh some of the other bits that have come out too mate, only some light parts but still counts. Will remove door speakers tomorrow to save another kg or so Next big saving will be the passenger seat i think. Weight balance will be better now as I have lost 16.3kg of battery plus 6kg's of head unit etc, so 22kg ish from the front end today and gained the extra 16kgs way out over the back axle. GT4 Zed
Nice work Tim. Been there and done with a full strip earlier this year. It makes a big difference as even the plastics weight cumulatively but the car is so raw that so you need to be committed. I've got my zed done to 1380kg now with quarter tank fuel and all the other fluids. I believe the UK spec GT weighs 1600kg with fluids. It's a shame I didn't weight individual parts for reference but this has been done before on my 350z US. The only areas left for me is the window motors, AC compressor and lines and lean replacement for all the glass except windscreen. There probably just under 100kg there but I'll loose about 25kg to my full roll cage and when I get the sc back on. Fwiw I would have done an initial corner weight and put the battery in the best spot to roughly even the weights to make full corner weghting easier.
