Randy_Baton
My windows have loads of light vertical scratches in them, I've cleaned out the door seals to try to prevent them deepening, but i want to try to polish them out. My windscreen also has tons of little chips which are only really noticeable when driving into the sun, but when I hit a sunny patch its pretty distracting. So I want to try to polish them out. What pads/compounds would you recommend? Should I just get a professional to do it, if so what would be the expected cost?
fellsteruk
Would it not be cheaper, quick "if you can" to pay the £70 excess and get it replaced on insurance?
GMballistic
Some videos I found on Youtube to do with this subject. Hope they help you make your mind up. Lot's more videos on this subject on there too.
ilogikal1
What pads/compounds would you recommend? Cerium Oxide with rayon pads will be best, however the stone chips in the windscreen (mine has the same, it drives me nuts!) may be too deep to effectively polish out. Randy_Baton
Would it not be cheaper, quick "if you can" to pay the £70 excess and get it replaced on insurance? Sounds cheap! fairly sure my excess is more like £250. The side windows are the worst! Maybe I should go glassless and wear goggles. This is my first car only had it 6 months so at least I haven't got a no claims bonus to loose.
chirag1988
Usually a windscreen repair/replacement won't affect your premium or no claims bonus as it's not a claim against your insurance. Check with your policy but normally a chip repair is between £10-25 depending on who you're with and a total replacement would be £75-
