Trig
Anybody changed there's? What did you go for? Any big gains?
Keyser
I did Stillen Ceramic Coated Headers in mine Not sure about NA gains I made lots but I added a Supercharger, NOS and watermeth injection They say the gains are not huge on an NA 350 though - but if the engine is out they are easy enough to change, doing it in the car is a PITA.
R35LEE
Doing them with the engine in situ is sooooo much fun
Trig
Quick look on eBay last night top gear manifolds look ok £250 or some nice Megan ones £500. Also looked at throttle body's some nice OBX from US quite cheap. But have to pay import duty.
Arran
I have dc sports ceramic ones on mine, haven't had the map tweaked yet but does feel much livelier up top
rtbiscuit
You're looking at around 12 hours of labour in fitting manifolds, and that's if you know you're way round the zed well. Average labour is about £50 an hour, your looking at about a £600 labour charge on top of the manifolds. Of you're spending that much I wouldn't put cheap crape in, just in case the welds pop and you need to take them back out. So you could be looking at a £900 bill to gain about 10 BHP max on a n/a engine. BHP per £ its not worth the investment of time and money unless you already have the engine out. Ian
Its worth doing imo. People say its not worth doing - on that basis neither is an exhaust or hfc combo seeing as they cost the same for similar gains
rtbiscuit
Its worth doing imo. People say its not worth doing - on that basis neither is an exhaust or hfc combo seeing as they cost the same for similar gains most NA mods aren't worth doing; the best thing to do is save all the money you would have spent on NA mods and just go FI from the offset. the 350Z is the most disappointing car to mod on an NA basis. RobPhoboS
Don't buy any crappy ones though - look at the materials they are made from, you don't want the sucker cracking !
AliveBoy
the 350Z is the most disappointing car to mod on an NA basis. Surely that's only true if you're after a giant BHP figure?
RobPhoboS
Yeah, I personally think as long as you understand it's not going to be like a GT3RS engine (unless you have the ££££) - there's nothing wrong with doing bits and pieces. Of course, FI would make more sense but hey, some reasonable gains to be had ! (IMHO)
GT4 Zed
It's worth doing and not going to make just 10hp. There is more to it than that. It's it labour intensive but its not 12hrs. I did mine on a ramp with my mechanic friend in under 5 hours. You could do the same on high axles stands with friends if you are mechanically inclined and have tools. There are a few tricks to help it go easier. Remove the Ac compressor, disconnect the steering rack and coolant pipes on driver side. Buy good quality though I would not buy ceramic coated ones because they are usually made of mild steel which is thermally poor material for exhaust and over time can fail. The ceramic coating is also a gimmick and not the real deal like offered by Zircotec. Get stainless steel and heat wrap with good quality thermal wrap. SS has best thermal conductivity and heat resistant. Protect your fuel lines with reflective wrap as you will loose your heat shield. If you really want to keep cost down use the HR/370ztubular equal lenght manifold which will be a perfect fit and have heat shields but also be cheap from breakers. The only kicker is you need to swap you down pipes(decat/cats/HFC) to HR/370 ones as the DE type will not fit. Goodluck

GT4 Zed
+1 Should have added that on my post. We also had the GB off but that was to change the clutch all within that stated time andit sure makes life easy.
rtbiscuit
And how long did it take to get the gear box off and re fit the gear box?
Arran
Total time for me, clutch flywheel and manifolds 4 hours all in not going fast either
RobPhoboS
Great to know, as I'll do the clutch and flywheel at the same time as the manifolds
