garak112
I went to a local indy to see a 2006 350Z (non GT) in grey. Car was in good external condition although there was some bubbling on the roof, looked liked tiny pinpricks in the paint. Internally it was again in good condition except for wear on the drivers seat bolster (cloth seats). I did have a bit of trouble getting the car into second gear when cold which concerned me quite a bit, the dealer said he hadn't noticed and it stopped when warm. Is this normal or something to worry about? The guy wanted £7k for it without any tax and was unwilling to negotiate, coupled with the second gear issue I decided to walk away. Any thoughts? Edit: It was also riding on linglong tyres... Edited April 11, 2014 by garak112
Richf
No shortage of used cars around , walk away £7k will buy something better
14N
I (personally) think you made the right choice. Plenty of Zeds to choose from in that price range - and most would come with tax, leather and decent rubber. Read the guides and FAQs on this site for things to look for. The second gear thing is a common Zed trait.
coldel
A good bit of car buying practice, walking away and not letting the heat of the moment get the better of you! As the boys have said, £7k will get you more than a non GT with paint and gearbox issues - gearbox syncros are prone on the 350z and not cheap to sort so good move to walk away. garak112
Cheers guys, I had read that 1st to 2nd could be a bit notchy but on this one I couldn't physically get the car into gear until the revs dropped. It would have been too easy after an unaccompanied test drive with the engine noise giving me goosebumps to drop the cash.
Marcus01
Wise to walk on, I walked away from 13 cars before finding the right 350. 7k is a good sum and will buy a good car with no issues.

GMballistic
Just over £7K and a members car; http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/350z/nissan-350z-gt-very-low-miles-uk-car/2196615 http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/83533-350z-2005-uk-cargt-pack-and-rays-wheelsvery-low-miles/ Also might be worth a PM to Tony (another forum member) as he has a great Zed that I believe he is selling still; http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/82437-54-plate-uk-sunset-gt-reduced-1-previous-owner/ Good luck with the Zed hunt. Tony's car does look fantastic and I did PM him earlier, only problem is I hadn't quite realised how far away he is from me (5 hour round trip on a good day), so I'm probably not able to get up to him until after Easter. I mean you can't always get a good car on your door step and as he's a forum member so hopefully it will be a good honest Zed you'll be going to see. Let us know how you get on with the search. pmorg4
I will generally travel anywhere in the UK for the right car, depending on availability and my confidence that the car is actually as good as claimed before making the journey. 5 hours is nothing - I've travelled 7 hours each way several times to buy the right car! In my opinion it's worth it, as I'm not prepared to compromise on buying a car that's not really what I want just because it's conveniently located. Saying that, I am very fussy with my cars
garak112
Looked at another one this morning. Looked like it had been in a rear end shunt - the rear bumper didn't fit right, the drivers rear quarter panel was a darker shade of orange than the rest of the car and there was rust on the rear passenger arches which had started bubbling the quarter panel. WhackyWill
Well steep at £7k bet he wont shift it at that price. 2nd gear can be solved by Molyslip and oil change. As said above you will get a very nice 350Z GT for that money, there are a few nice ones on here for sale at the moment. I would always try and buy one from a forum member as there is a very good chance its been well looked after. Good luck with your search, have a read through the guides on here about buying a Zed.
