SHEZZA Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 So whilst fitting new front discs and pads today noticed this ! I've had a knocking noise now for some time but only on the road outside my house which is rough as. Thinking this is the next job. But how urgent as just forked out for new breaks ! Quote

ATTAK Z Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 the dreaded banana bar knock !!! ... not unsafe but very annoying ... usually the ball joint failure which necessitates a new arm, not just bushes ... the LHS goes first for some reason Quote

ATTAK Z Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 the dreaded banana bar knock !!! ... not unsafe but very annoying ... usually the ball joint failure which necessitates a new arm, not just bushes ... the LHS goes first for some reason Expensive. Cost me £2.5K to establish that fact Quote
SHEZZA Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Not unsafe , that's good to hear unlike the knocking noise , turns heads for the wrong reason down my street. Yeah LHS. Defo next payday job though as don't think I'm capable of this myself . First attempt at brakes today and all went well. Quote
ATTAK Z Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Bite the bullet ... banana bar available from ZmanAlex Quote
SHEZZA Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Yes I was thinking complete arm. Just wondering where to get fitted , within the Newcastle under Lyme area ? Quote

cs2000 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Not worth trying just getting the bush replaced? Did both of mine due to nasty nocks and creaking noises around 8 months ago and has been fine ever since. Quote
SHEZZA Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Ok cheers I'll have a ring around on monday Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 We keep the new OEM bushes they are £29.99. If it does need a complete arm then we supply them for £250 per side again for genuine arms. There is also uprated compression arm bushes from Superpro and Whiteline worth considering if you are looking to upgrade. Drop me a PM if I can help. Ewen Quote
SHEZZA Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Ok so after a visit to the cougar store on sat I now have some shinny blue super pro bushes. Whilst on the ramp Andy had a good look around at the rest of the suspension and discovered that one of the front drop links was worn also. Un-fortunately they had just used there last pair on a previous zed with the same issue. So I took it upon myself to have a go at these , ordered a pair of new drop links and nuts from Clark Motorsport which arrived next day and this evening I have fitted them. All this has done the trick and I now have no knocking of rattling noises and the car feels like new. A big thank you to Mitz and Andy at the cougar store and Ewen at Clark Motorsport for all your help 3 Quote
GMballistic Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Great news SHEZZA. Glad it's all sorted now and the SuperPro bushes are great, have them myself. Quote
flyboy Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Its best to fix this straight away, not dangerous perhaps but your car eats front tyres when they have gone. 5-7k is all you will get out of a set if the bush has gone and its knocking. Quote
SHEZZA Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Cheers flyboy it's all sorted now thanks Quote
flyboy Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I know this was info for others as its a very common problem. I waited and chewed through a set of fronts which cost me more in the end. Quote
