richard.hezlett
Reserved 1 of these head units today from Halfords for £107. Wanted to know if any members either have experiences or advice on this unit . Presently I have the standard Bose setup which skips. This Alpine has only 1 preout but I understand I can use the normal speaker outputs. Reservation open for a week so any advice welcome. 14N
I've got the exact same headunit and I'm more than happy with it. It's a great HU for the price. The built in Parrot Bluetooth works fine (although you may need to update the firmware on the HU, depending what smartphone you're using), for it to fully play (and control) music from your phone but this is readily available via download on Alpine's website. You just update the HU with the software via Bluetooth. Although the sound output isn't bad, it is significantly improved by wiring the HU directly into the existing wiring. Follow this guide, it's easy as peas: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/58947-reduced-sound-out-put-after-replacing-oe-bose/ With the additional steering stalk, the only loss of functionality is with the phone. The phone button on the steering wheel now selects the source (radio/BT/CD).
richard.hezlett
Cheers Ian. Nice to hear you are pleased with it. I'm planning on going round to Halfords tonight for a demo as I just reserved it without any research, on the spur of the moment. Us people over here in Norn Iron love a bargain! 14N
I did exactly the same Rich. It was on offer online and I just figured "that'll do" (Although it wasn't quite that cheap, I still got a bargain I figure). Think I paid less than £140.
