LloydZee
Just lately the exhaust on my 350z is sounding a lot louder than usual. It doesn't sound like it's blowing at all and it's a standard exhaust. Is the exhaust prone to crack anywhere or has anyone else had this issue? Yes I know everyone wants a louder exhaust, but it is very loud for standard. Cheers
MITZ@CougarStore
Very common issue, check where the mid pipe meets the rear silencer, this is the key area that fails...
Grundy
Hole. check where it meets the back box, do you see any white gunk? Edited March 18, 2014 by grundy225
LloydZee
Ok if this is the case. Does it mean a new exhaust? Best replacement standard/after market?
coldel
Tarmac, CS and a few other traders will be able to help - if you are on a budget Scorpion/Cobra will be touted about which are decent budget options.

A9H-RX
I had a split from mid pipe to backbox joint on my standard exhaust when it all of a sudden got louder. Was crying for a performance exhaust don't replace, upgrade
MITZ@CougarStore
We have a few options available, the Cobra Sport makes a great replacement, drop us a call, PM or email and we'll be happy to help - http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/63096-cobra-sports-exhaust-from-cougar-store/
Nick350z
As already mentioned - check the rear silencer join - it's where mine split. Perfect time for an upgrade though! If you get a Cobra then go for a non-resonated. It makes rather a pleasing sound :-)

LloydZee
So with the cobra, do people have res or non res? Advice?
MITZ@CougarStore
Lloyd, email replied to, most tend to opt for the resonated but the non res sounds good if you like volume...
LloydZee
How is the non-res on cabin drone at motorway speeds? Cheers
MITZ@CougarStore
The non will be louder in the cabin, more so if you have the roadster, the resonated ticks all the boxes for long and short journeys...
LloydZee
Ok that sounds like the better option as I do a lot of motorway journeys.
Jp606
Be warned, the resonated drones too, but you can drive around it. 2.5k rpm seems to be the right revs for it to drone. Edited March 18, 2014 by Jp606
LloydZee
Isn't the non res the louder anyway
r37
as stupid as it sounds have you closed the boot properly. Mine sometimes latches enough not to trigger the light but is still open a crack. makes it much louder than usual.
GMballistic
Isn't the non res the louder anyway Yes it is.
Jp606
Isn't the non res the louder anyway Sorry, I meant the resonated. Both drone, the non res is just louder.
OV53
The resonated Cobra that I had on was unbearable for cabin drone between 2k and 2.5k RPM or between 60 and 70 mph in 6th gear. So much so that I swapped it out and went silly expensive with the Amuse R1 and the Motordyne Resonated XYZ which solved the drone! You can do it cheaper than my route but I would go one step above the Cobra resonated if you can stretch your budget a bit. There are some decent presented ones kicking about at the minute like, and if none tickle your fancy then one will pop up sooner or later!
