martinmac
Nice one Mike, gis a call when you pass Forton and I will meet you on the A590 at Grange turn off. Met office preaching their doom and gloom aagain, we have the largest area of sand in the world not classified as a desert ( at low water) so tend to be drier. Will explain on Sunday. Jacko
The meet is on Sunday 16th September. Meeting up at Holker Hall which has a cafe, Motor museum and massive car park. Very nice setting too.http://www.holker-hall.co.uk/ Some people are staying the night before, others arriving from mid morning. I will be around from about 7 pm on the Saturday. The local pub does a carvery from 12 noon until 7pm. Its about half a mile away with good outdoor seating. Suggest we get out fro a drive early afternoon. Max has driven a suitable route, it will be going up the A6 from M6 junction 36 to Penrith B5305 to Caldbeck along A595 back on the A66 on to the B5292 Honister pass to Keswick then A591 to Windermere and on to Kendal. It will include http://www.kirkstonepassinn.com/ ;http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_weather.html For those who believe the forecast it is looking pretty good For those who wish to stay, my local pub has two rooms which the landlord has kindly offered me for £20 per night. I am waiting for Matt to confirm on one, the other is free. Its a great pub but closes when the locals have had enough Anyone wants the second room pm me. http://www.eeabanklodge.co.uk/ is close and a nice guest house. May have a room left. http://www.masonsarmsstrawberrybank.co.uk/default.asp is a fantastic pub with very nice accommodation. Its about 5 miles from the meet. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/revie ... revid=4803 For the hardy outdoor types. If anyone is staying several miles away from the meet I am happy to pick up for a few beers at the Rose and Crown, Cark in Cartmel (LA11 7PF) on the Saturday night. Can arrange taxis back to save driving. Should anyone having any special accom requirements ( which are legal) pm me. We have a lot of hotels up to Michelin star if needed. My mobile number is 07932004259. I will be in Spain until the Saturday evening but have phone/blackberry with me. Any other questions, you know where I am. Any other takers amongst the new members Just a few directions to make it easy. From J36 of the M6. Signposted Kendal. After a couple of miles take first sliproad posted Barrow. First exit at roundabout. Continue down dual carriageway. Speed cameras just after becoming single lane, 60mph. Then becomes dual carriageway again. At first roundabout take first exit for Grange. Continue on this road. After entering 30mph zone and passing Hadwins VW on your right take first exit at mini roundabout. Continue to Grange. Take first exit at mini roundabout just after railway station. Beware, idiot driving warning in Grange Through the town and up the hill, first exit at mini roundabout. Keep on this road until you enter Allithwaite. Stay on road as you pass the Guide over Sands pub ( narrow). Keep on road bearing right at Pheasant pub. Take care as you go up this hill and round the corner, single file traffic but you have priority. Not a good line of sight though. Accelerate hard down through the single file bit ( it sounds awesome ). Entering Flookborough. Pass the Crown then the Hope and anchor ( pubs again ). Just as you pass the Hope and anchor you enter a sqaure with parking on your left. Turn right at the Chemist shop. Follow this road into Cark in Cartmel leaving the Engine ( nother pub) on your left ( watch the next bend) and the Rose and Crown on your right. continue on this road for about 1 mile to the entrance to Holker Hall. Sat Nav around us is designed to get tourists lost so dont bother. You can however follow the signs for Holker Hall Right, home from work tomorrow then off to Spain on Friday. Will still have limited net access ( blacky) but if anyone wants anything text me. 07932004259. Will sort outsatnding accom issue before I go Jacko and text you, have a plan B in place though so no sweat mate. Hasta Luego So Martin/Max.... I'm comin up tomorrow morning. Can I just confirm please that its a 10am or 10.30 meet etc at Holker Hall Sunday morning??? Cheers
