Kristian
Hi all, Just a quick question that has got me thinking, has any got 18 inch wheels at the front and 19 inch wheels at the rear? I was looking into the nismo 350z and apparently it runs 245/40/18 on the front and 265/35/19 on the rear. Does anyone know if this has any advantages or does anyone run these type of tyre sizes and noticed a benefit in handling/traction ect than running just 18's or 19's on the front and rear. aidan
Did the US version not come with staggered rim diameters - 18 on front and 19 on back. Cant see it being a problem providing tyres sizes all match up to similiar rolling circumference.
Kristian
Yeah it did however I put the tyre sizes in one of these calculator jobbies online and the front have a circumference of 2052.09mm and the rear have a circumference of 2089.9mm which is a difference of 46.81mm? aidan
Its the ratio that needs to be the same - ie 225/45/18 and the equivalent 19 to 245/45/18 on rear (275/35/19?????).
Kristian
According to this; http://ejelta.com/tiresize/index.html?ws19=1&tiresize=245%2F40-18&minwidth=245&maxwidth=245&minratio=&maxratio=&minwheel=18&maxwheel=19&maxdelta=2 The closest 19 inch tyre is 245/35/19. But then would that fit on a 19x9.5 wheel?
Kristian
Ah, Apparently it looks slightly stretched, which for me isn't ideal haha Edited March 13, 2014 by Kristian
aidan
This one is easier to work. http://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator If your running 225/45/18 on the front, then running 275/35/19 on the back will keep the rolling circ almost the same as stock (stock rear 245/45/18). Hope this helps.
Kristian
I wonder how it would perform on track. I suppose ideally 18's or 17's would be better but trying to find LMGT4's in those sizes with the right offset is a nightmare and mega money ha. aidan
As it was the track edition in the US that was fitted with 18 front and 19 rear, possibly nissan know something that we don't. Else could be it just looks better. No doubt it'll be something to do with the initial turn in feel, different side wall size.
docwra
Yep, Im running 18s on front and 19s on the back, Ive had to unplug the VDC though as it doesnt like it much - 255/30/18 front and 275/35/19 on rear IIRC. It feels like it handles better than 18's all round, the front is very good for traction but it can be light at the back when braking, it tries to swap ends quite a lot I did it for aesthetics as much as anything, I might buy some cheap 18's for the rear as replacing the 19's every two trackdays is killing me though
