aidan
Went out this morning and noticed when turning left at around 30mph upwards, that a heavy judder could be felt through steering. Immediately stopped but nothing evident. Drove around next right corner all fine, but at next left same again - judder through steering wheel. Have checked following: Tyres wheels are all okay, Wheel bearings feel fine. Brakes fine. Greased up all ball joints and none seem sticking. Power steering level at correct level. Then: Jacked front wheels off ground. With engine off, rack moves freely back and forth. With engine running, does the same, move freely. Then noticed that if I apply a small amount of opposite force to steering movement, judder returns. I'm thinking power steering pump? Any help appreciated. Battery was flat prior to moving car this morning (although cant see that causing a problem). Edited March 12, 2014 by aidan
Jaz 350z
Check if : when the PAS system is working (ignition on, engine running) you get bubbles in your reservoir. I had this issue, and it turned out that one of the pipes was worn, and was allowing the smallest bit of air into the system when turning right.
