samsniss350z
The second S14 SR20DET i had had a built engine and a bigger turbo, racing clutch and was dyno'd at just under 310 hp at the wheels and wasn't much fun to drive around town at all (i think a bad map had a lot to do with it) what with its heavy clutch and coilovers it was rock hard and also really tiring to drive on long journeys ( i ended up wearing earplugs). I considered getting an S15 but even the latest ones of these were just over 10 years old. Thats what made me decide to go for the 350Z, You could always supercharge it for safety as turbo'd 350Z's seem to run into trouble and become money pits. GMballistic
What are you like nowhereboy?! If I was you I'd keep the Zed and just spend £5-7K getting it Supercharged or turbocharged. Especially as didn't you just recently spend a fair whack on the Zed? Clutch wasn't it? haha I know man, I'm so indecisive. I think it's because this is the first car I've owned outright, normally I'm tied to a car with finance etc but the Z is all paid up. I've spent loads on the Z in the last few months to be honest, litteraly thousands. Either way, I'm putting cash to one side now, I guess I'll just keep looking and see what happens. Getting the Z supercharged is a possibility, I've been doing a fair bit of research into that recently too. If you did go down the supercharged route for the Zed even though a fair few people have already done it that will still be a more unique & rarer car than any Impreza/Evo or Skyline. Just a thought. My first Turbo car was a my96 "classic shape" JDM Subaru Impreza WRX ~ it was bog standard when I bought it and probably only running around 256bhp even though it was supposed to be a claimed 276bhp as standard. Spent thousands on modding it to how I liked it and trying to get more power from it but ultimately it was a nightmare car to own. Total money pit & spent more time on the back of low loaders than it did on track. Had the engine rebuilt once, gearbox twice, front diff adjusted, rear & centre diffs rebuilt etc etc. I know not all 4wd turbo cars or Impreza's would be like this one but it is definitely something to bear in mind as they can be very expensive to maintain & repair. My 295bhp old money pit below. Could of got more power from it easily eventually by changing the intercooler & turbo unit but the engine smashed a con-rod through the block only 12K miles after the first engine rebuild so that was that and I got rid of it because I'd had enough by that stage. Wow, what a nightmare! (cool looking car tho ), It's starting to look like my savings account could be called the supercharged 350Z fund..... I have many questions which I'm going to spend a lot of time researching, I guess a good place to start is the FI section on this forum. Definitely worth doing a good bit of research whilst your saving up some cash. Who knows you may even change your mind again by the time you've saved up and you can use the cash you've saved for something different.
