TiN TiN
Been advised that gearbox may be bad as it crunches slightly going into 5th and 6th. Anyone know roughly how much a new gearbox would cost including fitting? Any other things this could be?
Ekona
Brand new? I hate to think. I'll guess at about £4000, stab in the dark. Repairs would be a much better choice. I'd say a grand, depending on parts used.
glrnet
The synchro needs replacing, common fault on Zeds, unlikely it will need a new box. PM zmanalex if you want a new box, alternatively find a gearbox repair shop.
Grundy
Wouldn't worry to much, does it crunch no matter what revs? or just high? If mine is at about 4/5k Revs and I go straight into 6th it crunches, just have to let the revs die down a little 1st.
wls350
Anyone got a rough idea as to cost involved it's something I want to get to this year Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Grundy
Think you'd be looking into the £1500 region if you pick up a cheap box. Some 2nd hand ones have gone for around £800. With 20k Miles on them.
Ewen@Clark Motorsport
An early spec 6 speed is worth around £600 used. We offer a repair service which is £300 + parts required. Ewen

No good for when you want to race though :-/ is this not something I should worry about? What would a new synchro cost?
Grundy
No idea think about 500-900 refurb? But it's prone to happen again after refurb. To be fair when do you hit 5th/6th on track? I've just got used to letting the revs calm down a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KyleR
I've been quoted £500 plus the time taken to remove and refit the box, so I'm gonna guess a total of £650 for a refurb.
ATTAK Z
Mine's like yours.. Fine if you let the revs die down, it's fine.. No good for when you want to race though :-/ is this not something I should worry about? What would a new synchro cost? Don't worry about it ... they all do it when high reving from 5th to 6th (on the track of course)
KyleR
You can also double clutch to prevent the crunch or what I do is take it out if gear and let it centre itself between 3rd and 4th then put it in 6th. I find this easier and less chance for screwing up everything trying to double clutch quickly.
ianboom
If you buy a second hand box, make sure you get it from someone reputable like some named traders on here, nothing worse than having a second hand box fitted that is as bad as the original??
