john180
Hi Guys, I am hoping you will be able to me. I have tried searching the forum but I haven't been able to find any info.. My car has been stood for a month or so and the battery had gone flat. After jumping it of last night it seems the head unit doesn't want to work. If I try to turn it on by pressing the power buttion (the volume control knob) the back light comes on but nothing else happens - nothing on the display and no sound. The same also happens if I press the eject or load cd buttons - press them one the back light comes on, press them again and the back light goes off... Is there anything I can do to get the bose head unit back into action? A reset maybe? Or is it dead? Thanks in advance John
KyleR
Not heard of this before, go buy a decent head unit, our "Bose" systems are a bit crappy.

I was afraid this may be the case... :-( Thing is i have the birdview sat nav and i also have the bluetooth and i don't want to loose the audio side of all that and also the steering wheel controls. I know there are adapters for the steering wheel side of things but am i able to get the blue tooth and sat nav audio to work as it does now with a new head unit? KyleR
Honestly have no idea about the sat nav, but pretty much all aftermarket head units have Bluetooth built in, so that's not a factor. Hopefully someone will along soon with a fix that will save you all the hassle, not to mention money

I have mooched about head units before but never really got round to buying or investigating more.

I had birdview and bluetooth in my old 50 with a double din unit. The bluetooth won't work but the new system will more than likely come with bluetooth anyway. Audio/steering wheel controls still work too....just need an ISO cable

I don't want to double up on the sat nav systems either really. If mine isn't fixable I wonder if anyone has a OEM head unit kicking around for a 54 plate zed? The HU's are coded to the ECU so you cant retro fit another one mate. Aftermarket is the only way to go!

john180
Ahh! I'll check the fuses then :-)
Stutopia
I believe the headunit is married to the ECU, but it can be divorced and married to a new one. http://www.350z-uk.com/index.php?showtopic=19459 I'd go aftermarket though, it'll be so much better whatever your budget, especially if you are prepared to shell out a few quid. By the time you buy one then get stealer/specialist to sort out, you could have a good unit.

BulletMagnet
Just set a budget what you are willing to spend and then list things that are must have features, like Bluetooth etc, and filter out what would be garnish, pretty sure you'll find what you need. Also look for clearance deals, like this one http://caraudiosecurity.com/kw-av60-6-1-detachable-touch-panel-monitor-with-dvd-cd-usb Under £190, prolly cos a newer model is out Edited March 13, 2014 by BulletMagnet

john180
So there has been a development... I have been able to eject a cd, pop it back in and have it play. None of the other buttons on the front actually work. I can't get the fm radio to come on etc, skip tracks etc. I can however skip tracks and adjust volume via the steering wheel controls... Sounds like the control panel on the radio has died...
