^^^ I said a 10 second car!!!

You could push it over the finish line :lol:

This will decimate all.

...After you put fifteen grand in it. More if we have to overnight parts from Japan..... ;)

Just ROFL now go back up the thread to where I posted £15k easy and start the loop again :lol:

See my dilemma :headhurt:

I think the Nissan Leaf is looking like the best option or maybe an old school Mini????

Get a leaf, carbon fibre everything, make a custom bodykit for it and drive THIS:

@ Tony.r123 - That's what wraps are for ;)

Why can't you justify the GTR? Just the sheer price along with needing specialist servicing if you're not gonna buy the kit to do it yourself?

I have to say, though, if I was in a financial position to buy and keep an R35, nothing would be able to stop me. It's a massive itch to scratch and the second hand 09/10 models have hit a plateau in regards to prices.

Aside from that, I'd love to see. 2JZ lump chucked into a Zed, amazing motor!

Yup it's purely the cost of buying it, not so worried about running costs but not sure I can justify £40 - £50k sitting outside depreciating :scare: I managed less than 3000 miles in my Zed last year and that includes Wales.

It is on my list though - I have done the 911, which was my aim before 40 I have built a custom Jap another box ticked, I still love playing with the 350's (and it looks like I will be doing another complete rebuild soon)

But I would like to say I had owned a GTR before I get to the "otherside" I also like the 370 and that is more affordable not the right word - justifiable I suppose, but my 350 will out run any stock 370 so it sort of becomes doing it because you can not because I want to - and besides I'd soon spend enough on the 370 to make up the difference to a GTR anyway :shrug:

The truth is I don't need a car the problem is I am a petrol head and WANT REALLY REALLY WANT a car if you know what I mean?

So, you want something that you can play with, won't depreciate much and can kick the bitches ass?

There is imply one option in my opinion.

A late R34 GTR! They're just under £30k for a near on perfect example and prices are rising. Engine is easily tunable to well over 600hp and when you're finished with it in 3/5 years, you could sell it for the same, if not more than you paid for it and buy the R35 with money left over :D

Kyle has the right idea for sure, you could build something epic and not lose any money. Or maybe the 33 GTR but im unsure how they hold value

R33 is a boat (compared to the others!) and the values reflect that, they're going down compared to the other two "real" Skylines

Having been watching skyline prices for the last 6 months or so, they are actually ALL going up, the 32 more than the other two. R33s are about 50% higher than this time last year for equivalent cars for instance.

The dynamics you have in play are that R32s are now cult and 20 years old, R34s were limited run cars and pretty rare and more than half are tiptronics. R33s were produced in higher numbers - the engine is arguably better than the R32 but the Neo is definitely better in the R34s although a lot more temperamental once tuned.

Weight wise there is something like 100kgs difference between the R32 and R33, but the R33 was set up as a GT car (and everyone on here knows what that discussion is like) whereas the R32 is more of a touring car type machine. You buy them on their merits really. I bought the R33 because it looks better in my opinion, its newer, more comfortable to be in and use everyday etc.

Having had a play with a few bits on the R33 I have to say its very easy to tinker with, a lot less stress than the Zed ever was!

You kept this quiet the other weekend!

IMO I think the GTR sounds like the fantasy car to own but as a compulsive modder you will get

Itchy feet with it.

You need seriously deep pockets to go down that route,ask Jamie Price or the guys at Knight Racer how much they have spent on their cars.

Wouldn't want to be in your head right now! Lol.

Good luck mate.

You have the shed.

You have the tools.

You have the skills.

You have the labour force.......and buster.

Simples:

Buy a damaged 370 for little money, an R35 engine (and other necessary bits from a write-off) make good and put 'em to together, maybe with a wee bit of tuning, paint .....and then watch the other GTR's disappear in your rear view mirror :teeth:

My contribution for what it's worth,

Smiles per mile are what count so what will make you smile most? if you want it and can afford it do it, otherwise you will regret it and then resent your 350

From what you say you have plenty of projects in hand to keep you busy for now so the desire to mod should be held at bay long enough to enjoy the gtr then once the desire to mod starts to rear it's head get rid of the gtr and find another project car. Don't try to mod what you can't improve!! (realistically)

good luck with whatever you choose cos only you can make the decision.

Some great shouts on here:

I have been looking at gtr's as an import recently, surprising what they can be bought for from jdm land ;) especially with the exchange rate getting much better :)

Supra = Safe money, great cars

Rx7 = Best bang for buck out there imho, you can get a monster for under 10k and prices are starting to firm up and wouldnt take you long to get the hang of a rotary engine

R32 = Yes please

R33 = No thanks

R34 = Yes please

370z = Probably the worst financially as they will just keep dropping in price

RB26 is not as bombproof as people make out and to drop into anything would be a bad choice imho, 2jz is a much better engine but what would you drop it into that will justify the cost over what you already have?

So you're a highly talented automotive engineer with a perfected Zed, a budget and the urge to work on something? If it was me, I'd leave the Zed as it is and if I had your skills there's literally only one thing I'd be doing.

I'd buy this:

and turn it into this:

Crisis_zpsbb12971c.jpg

and then I'd let me come round of a weekend and touch it. :lol:

Calm down read this

The only way she (The Bitch) will go is if the engine SC and running gear move into Mrs Keyser's roadster so don't worry too much :)

Then I would have to get a GTR to keep with her :lol:
