Grundy
But surely you have spent near enough on your 350 which is the same value as a 370? My advice would be, which is your hobby? Modifying cars, or driving them?
KyleR
@ Tony.r123 - That's what wraps are for Why can't you justify the GTR? Just the sheer price along with needing specialist servicing if you're not gonna buy the kit to do it yourself? I have to say, though, if I was in a financial position to buy and keep an R35, nothing would be able to stop me. It's a massive itch to scratch and the second hand 09/10 models have hit a plateau in regards to prices. Aside from that, I'd love to see. 2JZ lump chucked into a Zed, amazing motor! Yup it's purely the cost of buying it, not so worried about running costs but not sure I can justify £40 - £50k sitting outside depreciating I managed less than 3000 miles in my Zed last year and that includes Wales. It is on my list though - I have done the 911, which was my aim before 40 I have built a custom Jap another box ticked, I still love playing with the 350's (and it looks like I will be doing another complete rebuild soon) But I would like to say I had owned a GTR before I get to the "otherside" I also like the 370 and that is more affordable not the right word - justifiable I suppose, but my 350 will out run any stock 370 so it sort of becomes doing it because you can not because I want to - and besides I'd soon spend enough on the 370 to make up the difference to a GTR anyway The truth is I don't need a car the problem is I am a petrol head and WANT REALLY REALLY WANT a car if you know what I mean? So, you want something that you can play with, won't depreciate much and can kick the bitches ass? There is imply one option in my opinion. A late R34 GTR! They're just under £30k for a near on perfect example and prices are rising. Engine is easily tunable to well over 600hp and when you're finished with it in 3/5 years, you could sell it for the same, if not more than you paid for it and buy the R35 with money left over

glrnet
MTFU and make a decision Oh, this probably hasn't helped much has it.......................How long have you been in this state of indecision? Most unlike you I hasten to add. It seems to me young Christopher, that you have to decide if having a GTR outweighs modding a 370, if it does then throw your heart and soul into modding Kim's car. Problem solved. GTR = Great car finished and nothing else required. Kim's car = modding project, should keep you busy and I believe you still have a mini to finish? Would keep most of us satisfied me thinks? All IMHO of course
Grundy
For me I'd buy the GTR just because I prefer it over the 370. But for you, you have the knowledge and accessories etc to do pretty much anything to a car. I feel like you'd be bored with it just sat on your drive. (Although you'd still get all us turning up ) If I was in your shoes - I'd have more fun buying a car and making it different. Granted if you came to a Zed meet etc, you'd get all the attention in the GTR - but if you went to a GTR meet, what would you talk about/compare Get a Supra/RX-7

ChrisB
How about turning the bitch into an Abbey style drag monster thing? That would be a huge project, low mileage, but every 1/4 mile a blast? You've plenty of other cars available for normal driving around in
AliveBoy
You'd get bored of the GTR......Owners club! Ever been on it? Pretty boring, sterile place full of anoraks comparing details of polishes. Mods are pretty frowned upon too
:RedZed:
Don't want to sound like a hipster but YOLO! If you don't go for the GTR you'll only regret it later. I can't justify owning my 350, it does nothing my 1.2 Clio can't do in terms of 'requirements' (and actually less due to lack of seats and boot space) but I have it because I'm a petrol head!

Husky
Sounds like you need to step outside of Nissan tbh. I say look around the Supras, RX7's, etc and see if there's a fun, fast project that catches your eye.

TimFF
As someone who's just kinda been in this situation (albeit without the mechanical capabilities you have!) then I think your mind will make itself up. I've been lucky and able to indulge in some nice cars in the past, and over the last year or so a germ of an idea became a caterpillar before becoming something rather more tangible in the form a big blue butterfly I couldn't get out of my mind... It meant selling the Zed, but I have no idea what's around lifes corner for me so I'm scratching that itch now!

BillyZed
Please don't get a GTR! You are a petrol head and that's not a petrol head car! Buy a REAL skyline Why don't you build a car from scratch? Buy something with a good chassis and put an RB or 2jz in?
