HAMLNJ
Has anyone had their tappets adjusted? My rattle when I start up and it's beginning to get annoying. Cost? Anyone done it themselves?
ZMANALEX
The tappet adjustment is a big job as you have to replace the buckets, which involves removing the cam shafts. Alex.
Jez @ H-Dev
Rattle at start up probably isn't tappets.
GT4 Zed
If it bugging you that much just use 10w 40 fully synthetic oil and it should go away. Just make sure you get the oil up to temp before canning the car especially in very cold weather. Or just ignore the noise.
HAMLNJ
10 / 40 might be a good idea. I always allow it to warm up anyway. I can't seem to get a definate answer from my garage of what it is.
japcarsbrett
go with the thicker oil it will help it, i did this on my last car toyota supra twin turbo and it cured it, won't work every time on every car but either way it can't hurt to do it. Will the 10/40 affect the engine with it being thicker? Reason I ask is mine was run with 10/50 in it for about 6 month before it was charged
GT4 Zed
Less economy and slight power sapping due to more drag/friction but its minimal really to matter.
