formatzero
The first time i move the car in the morning and push the brake pedal(this is reversing out the car park)there is a clunk off the brake pedal. After this first movement it brakes fine and no noise off the pedal.Tried facing it forward in the morning and there is a clunk but not nearly as loud. This only seems to happen after the car has been sitting for quite a while.Your thoughts please. Grundy
Hmm, I have something similar but I think mine is just the Hand break seizing free (not that it's seized but you get what I mean) after the initial movement. No my hand break is not left on before you all say it But I'm guessing your noise is directly from the pedal?
bamdc2
Definately from the pedal and not from outside the car? Not sure if it's sticky caliper or pad. Could be the calipers moving a little? I get the same as grundy every now and again when I leave the car for a while (and bad weather seems to be a connection), when wheels first move after I take handbrake off there is sometimes a clunk from outside like handbrake was slightly sticking on wheels or something. Just put it down to the handbrake on the Zed being totally useless!!
Jp606
Mine does as the others above said. I only use the Z at the weekends and it gets washed before I park up for the week so the brake pads 'unstick' with a clunk when I pull away on first use. (I don't use the handbrake but I guess it can do the same thing) I do drive around the block and give a few long brake presses after I've washed it but it still seems to happen. formatzero
Ok thanks, spoke to a mechanic friend today and he asked if it could be handbrake brake shoes sticking, but i didn't know if it has shoes for the handbrake.Wondering now, since it was mentioned,if it could be pads moving as i had them replaced not that long ago.Car into garage next week,if i get a cure will post it up. Ridz
The Zed has separate drum brakes for the handbrake, Handbrake sticking is a known aspect for the Zed, particularly if its been standing for a while. This weather doesn't help!
AMT
Yeah happens if its been left for a bit just on initial go. Unless I need to (hill, uneven road) I just park it in reverse.
