Toby85
Hi all! Just registered - plenty of questions. My uncle has owned an '04 sunset 350z GT from new and since clocked up 211,000 miles! Anyway, it has a few issues so he's bought himself a 4-series BMW and I've took the zed off his hands to tidy up - so help! List of problems with which I may need your help; - The locking wheel nuts are stuck as they are over-tightened and worn - Front 2 tyres are completely shot - Front and rear bumpers need paint/repair - Whole car needs touch ups and a polish/wax (washed once a year for its life!) - aircon is losing pressure - a regas only lasted him a couple of weeks - misfiring above about 3000 revs (on 4+6 apparently) yet starts and idles as sweet as anything - Needs a complete and thorough service - needs a wheel refurb for corrosion - a new headlight washer as one is smashed - drivers seat won't move forward or back - oil pressure gauge stuck at max - CD player jammed - sat nav blank backlit screen I think that's all! Top priority is tyres, misfire, service and drivers seat so I can actually reach the pedals! I know it seems a lot - but I got it for a bit of a family rate . Anyway - nice to meet you! GMballistic
Welcome aboard Toby. There is a trader on here called Alex who should be able to help should you want pre-owned good condition working Zed parts. I got a pre-owned coil pack from him myself for under £40 delivered which sorted out a misfire on my Zed. The drivers seat not working could just be the connections needing a clean or you could need a new switch unit as mine did when it stopped working correctly. Touch up pens can be bought cheaply enough from a Nissan Dealership ~ you will get the correct colour that way & it includes a lacquer touch up as well (just tell them your VIN number). A wheel refurb will set you back probably £250-£400 for all four depending on colour and how curbed/damaged the wheels are. It's £300 locally to me for my 18" Rays in Chrome silver colour to be done (haven't had time yet though to get it done). Information here about servicing; http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/31110-service-schedule-for-a-350z/ http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/58-servicing/ Cheap/good tyre supplier here; http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/211-funky-tyres-ltd/ Zmanalex here; http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/137-zmanalex/ Hope you enjoy your new motor.

Keyser
Hi all! Just registered - plenty of questions. - The locking wheel nuts are stuck as they are over-tightened and worn Find an old socket close to the size and hammer it on - that should get them of - if not may need to drill them (PITA) - Front 2 tyres are completely shot Get new Tyres after the above - Front and rear bumpers need paint/repair Body shop for a quote - Whole car needs touch ups and a polish/wax (washed once a year for its life!) As Above maybe a specialist detailing company - aircon is losing pressure - a regas only lasted him a couple of weeks Find leak, replace part ( ) re-gas - misfiring above about 3000 revs (on 4+6 apparently) yet starts and idles as sweet as anything Need the codes may be a coil pack or spark plugs. - Needs a complete and thorough service Easy get parts and service - may sort problem above. - needs a wheel refurb for corrosion Do it - a new headlight washer as one is smashed - drivers seat won't move forward or back Check wires under seat - check motors - most likely clean the switches. - oil pressure gauge stuck at max Replace oil sender (below oil filter) :pmzmanalex for parts - CD player jammed Bin it and get a nice new HU with Sat Nav - sat nav blank backlit screen Bin it - see above

The Chubby Ninja
Welcome mate. When was the last time it had sparkplugs? Also search on here for cleaning the MAF sensor as a dirty one causes rough running.
Ricey
You can also buy locking nut removal sockets.....they have a reverse thread that bites into the socket. Get a smart repair blokey to look at the bumpers before you go spending on a bodyshop. Jealous.....this is just the kind of project id love to do. GT4 Zed
Toby! Keyser has answered most of the questions. Depending in how mechanically inclined you are you can save a lot if you can investigate remove and replace the parts or have a member who can near by:) I can tell you with almost 200% certainty that the Ac leak is from the Ac condenser. It is common for the canister on the driver side to corrode and crack leaking gas. You tend to miss this after a dye leak test as its hidden! Get a new condenser frim ebay for £125 (made by nissens) who are highly regarded to make OEM quality Ac parts. The OEM condenser is over 300quid

Toby85
Wow, thanks for the welcome! I'll work my way through your responses later when I finish work and maybe add some pics as is. I'll certainly be doing all the work myself unless there's any jobs you think are not worth doing - I've heard the transmission and diff oil is a bit of a faff? Have a feeling it's going to be leaking cam cover gaskets around the plug bores causing the miss, my uncle who I got the car from had the issue sorted last year for it to return again but can't remember exactly what was done - said its to do with ignition and needed something clearing out. I'll have a look in the next couple if days! Oh, and I'm based in the west mids!

GIXXERUK
Try swopping the seat switches over to confirm the fault Get it cleaned up before the spray on the bumpers to ensure a good match and you can see if any other bodywork is required Edited February 17, 2014 by GIXXERUK
