Darren350
Guys, Anybody have a professional install a Head Unit or similar in the Bristol area? I've been sifting through what is involved in replacing the Bose HU and it scares me shitless, hahaha It may be very simple but all the splicing and adaptors etc involved confuse the hell out of me! Unless someone wants to do it for me for cash? Haha Advice appreciated! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
choptop
How much were you looking at spending for a fitted unit?
Darren350
Well I wanted to spend a few hundred on the unit and say another 100 on fitting and adaptors etc? Is that realistic for a decent unit? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Hammerz
Think you'll be looking at £50-60 for the adaptors alone depending on whether you need steering wheel controls. I've just bought a pioneer head unit and bro in law fitting it for me. He used to do car audio as a job and he's fitting a rear camera at the same time. Hopefully will be sorted in the next two weeks (depending on weather). If you want to hold on I can let you know how it goes to give you an estimate of time and how hard it is. I'm bristol based too
Darren350
Yeah if you can do Hammerz that would be great mate. Not looking to move too fast. Thanks! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
3sjr
It's really not hard at all buddy, get the correct adapter for the make of head unit you are doing, once the dash is out it's a 20 min job. If your still worried I can put you in touch with elite audio who are based in Bristol, he will come to you and fit it. Does a lot of work for me and one of the best vehicle leccies I know. N12omc
New car, old head unit, dont mind buying the adaptors and fascia, and always do this myself too. But have the Sat NAv system and all seems a nightmare job to swap HU over? As i'm Bristol based I am also keen to see who can help out so will follow this thread myself
Darren350
Hey mate, I'm in the same boat as you. Got the Bose set up in mine so haven't got a clue how to go about getting a replacement in there. I'm Bradley Stoke based, where abouts are you? Like you I don't mind buying the adaptors and fascia and HU but wanna get someone who has a clue what they are doing. What HU are you thinking of getting? N12omc
Well I have now committed to do the job myself. Ordered fascia and bose compatible adapter kit after finding an online guide. I am so fussy over this stuff I think I'd rather do it myself anyway. Just need everything to arrive, then a quiet day. I'll let you know how it goes

N12omc
Parts have started to arrive, looks like a job for next weekend can't wait to get this one sorted. If I get it sorted maybe there's a market for me to get in to, lol
