14N
Help! My car now sounds like someone farting through a trumpet amplified by a megaphone. After investigation, it would appear that my Y pipe has gone to exhaust heaven. Has anyone got a used Y pipe knocking about that they no longer want/need? OEM is fine as long as the condition is reasonable. There is another factor, I'd ideally like it by this coming weekend if possible as I'm at a wedding the following weekend and need the Zed for then. (Great timing huh?) If you've got one and you're not located too far from Worcestershire/West Mids, I could collect. Otherwise I'd need to courier it (which I can arrange if you're prepared to wrap it). Cheers, Ian
Darren350
Ian, I shredded both Y pipe flexi joins recently and had a brand new one made up and fitted by Infinity exhausts for £150 inc VAT. I'm not sure if there is one close to you but I highly reccomend them and they do it while you wait. Good luck mate! Vlad
Ill have one soon! It's Japspeed (had on my car no problem until I ripped flexi on a speed bump) it's at welders at the moment having brand new flexi pipes welded on (both sides). Ones that done, it will be up for sale. Will check tonight/tomorrow when it's gonna be ready
drginger
I have a brand new, unused japspeed for sale with gaskets and bolts. £100 plus courier if you're interested?
Grundy
Give MIJ a shout Ian, you're local to them. Don't know the price, but they'll be able to make you a brand new Y pipe then and there, can chuck in some attached de-cats too

14N
Cheers for the response guys. I'm gonna ring my local tyre/exhaust place in the morning to see if they can get one of some description for the weekend and also ask how much they'd charge to fit one if I can manage to get hold of one. I can try also try a couple of the exhaust fabrication places as suggested, but its whether they can get me in at such short notice. Sir Zman of Alex thinks he might have some too, so I do (hopefully) have a few options, unfortunately the clock is ticking and this weekend is my deadline. Normally time wouldn't be an issue, but I want my Zed all nice for this wedding. I still haven't got a suit or shoes yet, but my car takes priority
Darren350
Ian, the specialists tend to get you in ASAP as otherwise you'll just go to the next one. Infinity got me in for the following day. Exhaust and tyre places tend to have more of a back log of work and jobs to be done whereas special fabricators will get you in and out and take your cash ASAP lol Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
14N
Cheers Darren. I'm only going on my experience when I had my custom centre pipe fabricated - I had to book it in. If worst comes to worst, I'll just have to go to the wedding with my Zed looking nice.... ..... but sounding like an amplified trumpet fart. Grundy
Aye, MIJ, they're pretty quite during weekdays. I managed to book mine in on a saturday about 2 days in advance? But there were plenty next days slots etc.
Darren350
I had a 15 mile journey on the motorway with both flexis ripped apart to the exhaust place so I feel your pain, lol. Sounded like a badly modified Nova haha Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
14N
Well, I've got a K1 on, so I didn't really think you'd be able to tell even if the exhaust was blowing But, oh yeah, you can definitely tell it's blowing
14N
Well, my local exhaust place said they do not normally fit customer's own exhausts, but would take a look for me and fit one if I could get it. The favour would cost me £70 £80 though, plus the price of the Y pipe, wherever I get it from. They did say that their suppliers were asking silly money (£300-£500+) for their Y pipes - that's why they offered to fit my own. I've decided to bin that idea. I now have my Zed booked in at a place that can fabricate exhausts, so they'll make one (hopefully) for me on Saturday morning. If I can get one made and fitted for sub £200, I'll be okay with that. Quick question, are the flexi pipes totally necessary? Has anyone (especially you guys that have had Y pipes made) got a Y pipe that does not feature the flexi sections? Darren350
The flexis are required mate to allow the system a bit of movement as far as I know. So that when the car is bumping along at silly speeds the exhaust system isn't just one big rigid set up. What Infinity did to mine was fabricate a new Y Pipe but with only one flexi on the straight section as opposed to two on the angled sections. This still gives the system some movement allowance but A) Brought the cost down and B ) Reduces the chances of me wrecking it again because now there is only one flexi in the middle as opposed to two at the sides. Would you like Infinitys number mate? They may put you in touch with someone local to you that do the same? 14N
What Infinity did to mine was fabricate a new Y Pipe but with only one flexi on the straight section Simple, but at the same time clever, I like it. I just wasn't sure if a flexi section would be something they'd have on the shelf - but it sounds like it's something they should have. I understand what its purpose is. Where are Infinity Darren? If they're not too far away from me, it sounds like they might be worth a call. Cheers mate. EDIT: Found 'em. Well, the place in Bristol called Infinity Exhausts if they're the same? Darren350
Thats the one mate. They are just off the Dursley junction of the M4 (A different Dursley lol). They have everything on the shelf mate. If you speak to ross on reception and say you want the same as Darren with the black 350Z he should remember as it was only a few weeks ago. Basically they have a massive range of flexis and just fabricate the pipe up and stick it on. I was there 2 hours or so. The cheapest I could find a crap new Y pipe for was 130 quid on ebay plus I'd then have to get it fitted. So it was really a no brainer. Plus it comes with a lifetime guarantee mate. The ebay ones don't haha Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
