GT4 Zed
My halfords battery died on me lately and decided I was not getting a replacement under warranty as:- - it rubbish..lasted just over 2yrs - can't be asked to find the receipt Spec: AH 62 CCA 510 L235 W173 H225 Cost £95 pick up! Anyway I decided I'd get a quality battery and would fit the largest I can in the space available👀 so that I get the highest AH and CCA possible. In laymans terms: have the most juice in the battery to start the car no probs every time, support extra electrical stuff eg audiovisual, gauges etc and importantly able to run stuff while stationary with key in acc without fear of draining the battery quickly. I set off with my tape measure and ended up with L285 x W185 x H240mm being the max dimensions in the battery cubby on the passenger side. Next I did a search to see which top end battery will closely match the dimensions. The winner was the top of the line Bosch S5 0008 battery. Comes with 5 year warranty. Specs: AH 77 CCA 780 L 278 W 175 H 190 Fitted the battery easily and even retained the OEM securing gubbins. Car started instantaneously at the turn if the key and voltmeter shows a steady 12.5v key switched to on and 14.5v at idle. I'm very pleased. For comparison with OEM spec AH 65 CCA 550 (earlier cars came with 490) L235 W173 H 225 The S5 battery is £106 at ECP (thats with 15% discount 👀) I managed to get it through a mates trade account at a local motor factors for £80👠I can get 1 more if anyone needs a top battery. Delivery would be 7quid mainland UK unless you want to pick up or I drop it off if you happen to be in my route. GT4 Zed
LOL! I like to share with others and with facts as I'm sure that though often underlooked an underperforming battery can make your life hell like it did mine for 1.5weeks until I had the time to sort it.

Flex
Surprising result here - post No.5, albeit for a 370 http://www.350z-uk.c...cement-battery/ Indeed, I wonder if it has a guarantee. I know I got 5 years with mine but via mates garage.
ZEUS
Normally Halfords batteries tend to be pretty good! I've always found halfords batteries a complete joke, repeatedly having to take them back because they are knackered
HARMLU
I've always used the hcb batteries never had a problem. Having said that, the number of batteries I've had in my 9 years of driving are minimal
Stan
Just like to resurrect this thread to say thanks for the advice and measuring etc - the first thing I did when I got my zed 2 weeks ago was go to halfords and get a new battery. Using your size measurements I researched online and went for the Yuasa HSB096 for £104. When I went to remove the old battery it was tiny in comparison! If I hadn't read this and just went from the recommended battery for my car, I would have ended up with another small battery, whereas now I have something that is up for the job! spike4real
A quick post to say thanks! I have just replaced my dead Nissan battery (surely not the original!?) with the slightly larger Bosch S5 008 (type 96), abit fiddly in the dark but got there in the end
inspiral
Just replaced my battery, hope this helps someone. The 350z battery bay will also take a type 096, also known as a type 100. To be specfic add an "L" suffix to define -ve polarity on the left. It's 278L x 175W and height varies depending on brand up to 190. I went for Exide Premium EA722 72Ah 720CCA 12v Type 096 Car Battery 4 Year Warranty for the grand total of £64 next day from Click Car Parts on Ebay. A good price considering the spec/brand/warranty. BSCZ
Another thanks from me for this, used the dimensions to purchase a new battery after my Halfords one died after 7 years of use. I also went for an Exide battery from Click Car Parts, and based on their advice I bought this model which I can confirm does fit (although it was a bit of a tight squeeze getting it in!) - Exide Premium 77Ah 760CCA 12v Type 067 Car Battery EA770. It's nearly identical with the Bosch S5 0008 in terms of Ah /CCA and at time of writing was £67 delivered which I thought was a bit of a bargain. Gerry40
My battery gave up the ghost three weeks ago, turned out to be the original one fitted ( 2004 ). Anyway I went for the Yuasa Lifetime Guarantee 075 Black ( 60Ah & 600A ) which came in at £157 ( £141 now ) and thanks to my lads mate's discount cost me £125, the length and width was pretty much the same as the original but not quite as high so I just had to use a small length of belting under the top bracket for the front mainly to secure firmly. Also decided to fit a CTEK comfort charger with led's to show current charge state as the car can sometimes only be used once or twice a week, this enables me to connect my CTEK charger without using the crock clips. Willsy1980
Add another to the list, not run my car for 2 weeks and the battery has given up the ghost, popped the jumpers on ran it for 30 minutes. Turned it off and wont fire, the volt meter just dropped from 12 to about 6 in a second from turning key. Is the Yuasa HSB096 still a good option ? DE 2005 ? Thanks In advance folks
Mugends
Hello everyone, firstly I’d like to thank you for the post really helped me out, secondly I’d like to add a point that I found with my z, i have a 2003 fresh import from japan and apone installing this battery I picked up off amazon for £104.59+£3.91p&p I notice the terminals are different sizes from the uk to Japan the uk are large and the Japan are small so I have to pick up some bigger ones from Halfords, hope this helps anyone else out that has the import z and looking to change the battery
cob1980
Just thought I'd expand on this old post if anyone is interested. The Bosch S5 008 (AH 77 CCA 780) recommended above is the biggest capacity you'll find but it doesn't fit the tray. Won't move about much but still, if you want next best thing.... Bosch S4 026 It fits the tray nicely, capacity wise isn't too much less, and if you have a blue Z then it's win win! AH 70 CCA
