bpmjames
Hey guys Wondering if anyone could shed some light on what I think is an issue. Had my zed for almost a year now and loved driving it when I got it but of late it seems to have become unresponsive and heavy feeling, like it's holding back. It's an 04 plate with plenum spacer, cossie filter, sports cats and Gemini. Exhaust. Is there anything obvious I should be checking first? Ignition timing, fuel starvation, plugs? It also smells really rich when I boot it. Any help appreciated! Jim Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
glrnet
Check the air filter for starters.

Lexx
Any other symptoms when driving? Stuttering? hesitation? stalling? Misfire? What's the condition of the throttle body? Worth giving that a clean inside.
bpmjames
No other symptoms really it seems pretty normal on that front just slow. I'll have a look at the throttle thanks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Lexx
Check for any stored ECU codes. If clear, do a ECU and throttle body reset. The process for all 3 of the above is in the Guides section
bpmjames
Saying that when it's cold and u fire it up its a bit stuttery on low revs for a couple of mins Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Neilp
Is you traction control kicking in at all? Roads are slippy these days. Also with those mods, have you had a remap done?
glrnet
Check the plugs and as Lexx says check for codes too, could be a coil pack playing up intermittently.

Traction control doesn't kick in. Should have said it's been mapped Surely if it was throwing up a code the eml would be on? Dynamic Turtle
From the title it sounds like you might need zinc supplements and a certain blue pill...
Keyser
As above plugs, then give the MAF a clean, throttle body reset won't hurt then see how she is.
Neilp
What fuel are you running also?
bpmjames
I've reset the ecu but no change. The throttle reset didn't seem to work. I always use vpower nitro Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Lexx
Does it rev freely in neutral? No stuttering or flat spots? Long shot, but check that non of your brakes are seized on.
bpmjames
Yeah it seems to be fine mate. That's a good list of things to check I'll make a start on it during the week. I remember on my old 200sx it used to feel similar when the ignition timing was out slightly. Is there anyway it can change on the de engine? Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk VQ engines are chain driven. Unlikely for the timing to slip.
bpmjames
The base timing is chain driven but the ignition timing is usually determined by a cam or crank sensor Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Mike1989
Get your timing checked, as unlikely everybody seems to think its that I had the same issues and it was that!
bpmjames
Thanks Mike I'm assuming u mean the chain yeah? It rattles at start up from cold for a couple of secs which I am assuming is the cam chain tensioner Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk

Mike1989
Yeah my tensioner was knackered, worth checking the timing just to rule it out. Hope its not for you as its a pretty big job!
