Help,

Recently had to manually close soft top as 5th bow decided it didn't want to operate to the closed position automatically.  However manually closed 5 th bow but only to the half lock position.  How do you manually release it from here or even get it to the fully locked/closed position.

If you've got the original roof vinyl material, you'll probably struggle to close it in this weather...by close I mean put I down. It's so tough and inflexible that the mechanism really struggles. I decided to get a mohair roof fitted and they even said the same, without prompting....when it warms up it will probably all fold away no worries....or get a mohair hood fitted.

Cheers, yes it is the original roof material.

I've taken the 5th bow window motor out... (Very awkward) and taken the small motor to bits. I've ordered some new dc brushes as the originals look a bit worn. When they arrive I'll re-assemble and see how that goes.

Ok changed all motor brush gear. Fiddly job, but managed it. Did not fix initial problem. The last movement of the roof when closing does not work, ( rear window section does not drop and lock into the storage compartment lid, it's stuck up in the vertical position.... Can anyone suggest anything else?

Are you sure it's not just because it's so cold? Ours wasn't closing, and was told by three different hood specialists that's why. I ended up having a replacement mohair hood fitted (due to hole, not because of closing issue) and it works perfectly every time now. When cold, the oem vinyl is very hard and difficult to manipulate into shape

It's probably temperature related, as others have said. The handbook suggests the roof shouldn't be retracted at temps below +5 deg C.

I have found that it is the fifth section that seems most critical in allowing the hood to fold, as the canvas is so stiff when cold.

On a cold day, if you can position the Zed in the sun for 5 or 10 minutes, the canvas soon warms up, becomes more flexible and then it folds away usually on the first attempt.
