JB-UK
I had the same problem with the Berks, cats were proper hot before I got there and it went straight onto the emissions test. No chance, was miles out! I only got them in the first place as I thought it'd pass the MOT. eBay silenced decats going on this month instead!

Level 7 Boss
We can swap my standard cats for your HFC and you'll get a pass lol. But will he ever get his HFC's back off you?! He can have them back when I have my MOT lol

Humpy
Bit of a pain the Berks HFCs. Mine failed and supposably they were done when really hot... Surprisingly though passed the next morning, friendly tester is what you need. Edited January 20, 2014 by Humpy
370Ad
Basically the way I look at them is that they are only useful if you are pulled over by the cops. They don't seem to pass MOT's very well and you need to find a 'friendly' place....so if your doing that you might as well get decats. Zimjason
Very true haha! Rang around today hopefully got it sorted Will keep you updated going to run some injector cleaner threw tonight and see how we get on
350zedd
If you can find a "Very Friendly Tester" and there are some about, then the car will pass emissions even if its been decatted.
Zimjason
Yer need to find one of these! Haha!

The Police (or VOSA actually) wont do anything other than give you a rectification notice anyway, you may as well run full decats IMO.
Zimjason
True but it's finding a way to pass with de cats ...
rabbitstew
As others have said its all down to how "friendly" the tester is. My mates got a scooby running a full straight through system and pushing out something like 700bhp with race fuel. From what he was saying when we last talked about MOT`s, the place he uses just sticks the emissions wand thing in the exhaust of whatever other car happens to be sitting in the workshop at that moment in time. Of course, if your a stranger then the MOT man risks you being from DVLA and can take away his MOT license there & then. Ive had similar problems with MOT`ing my motorbikes. Some places query the fact ive no headlamps, no indicators and a race exhaust system on it. Others happily pass it with a daylight MOT. docwra
True but it's finding a way to pass with de cats ... Thats kinda the problem yer man has already mate, if you dont know someone "friendly" then youve got to change them anyway
Sam Mcgoo
Just for reference to those considering de-cats, my Kinetix HFC used to pass an MOT fine. Still put decats on though
Vik54
Regardless of having a 'friendly' tester. HFCs, if they're hot should not fail emissions. Go for a decent run and then drop it at the workshop with instruction to test immediately.
thetranquilbass
I've run with the Berk HFC for almost 2 years now and they have past the MOT each time with no issues whatsoever
Jp606
I really want decats but I'm worried about how loud they are! Edited January 22, 2014 by Jp606
The Chubby Ninja
I really want decats but I'm worried about how loud they are! they are pretty loud with the resonated cobra to be honest
Jp606
Yeah, tbh I wouldn't want my exhaust any louder than it is, don't mind the tone changing but the volume is bordering on anti social as it is. I know Horsham do silenced decats, but they only fit the DE Zs.
Zimjason
Iv got ressy cobra it's abit Loud then I open the window smile and say hell it's worth it!! Edited January 23, 2014 by Zimjason
wmr1980
I really want decats but I'm worried about how loud they are! I'm going for silenced decats - I had a listen they rasp a little but actually sounds awesome.
Level 7 Boss
I'd go for decats but don't fancy starring at the engine management light.
The Chubby Ninja
when I fitted my decats the engine management light only came on about once a week to a fortnight. I just bought a code reader off ebay for about £15 and reset them as it only took 2 secs. since its been mapped its been fine
GMballistic
I'd go for decats but don't fancy starring at the engine management light. You can do the pedal dance to clear the EML (ECU reset). http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/53148-how-to-ecu-accelerator-pedal-throttle-valve-resets/
