Jared350z
So just before christmas my poor Zed's engine decided to start knocking at 2500 rpm all the way up and even worse on the way down. so I took it to my friend Julian at Garage-D to get the official and technical diagnosis of "Yeah thats f**cked" As a decent mechanic he wouldn't let me drive it away as I would only be doing more damage leaving me to get the train home from watford to hertford (2 crappy hours) Whilst the engine was out I realised that it wasn't the first time it had been out as I noticed scratches on the bulk head, One to look out for if you are looking to buy one. As the heart of my zed was on a engine stand I decided to get rid of the standard manifolds/cats and put the tubular de-cat manifolds from japspeed. As I was going down that road I then decided to hell with it why not get the Y pipe as well. I have had a full engine rebuild with new crank, bearings, rings, metal gaskets, well you know the rest. Since I've got her back I can't wipe the smile of my face, the noise of her now is amazing! I already had a after market back section, of which I have no idea what it is, I've searched for a quad tip like mine but have never found one but any way the loud raspy scream gives me the same feeling when I'm drunk singing bohemian rhapsody!! yeah that good!! I do want to put a new clutch and lightweight flywheel on soon along with rolling the arches and larger spacers oooo plus some colour coding. With all the work as I know a few of you are wondering I paid £2700 for a full rebuild, Japspeed de-cat manifolds. Japspeed Y-pipe and a full service after 500 miles. CHECK OUT MY ALBUM I'VE PUT UP SOME NEW PICS Edited January 14, 2014 by Jared350z

GIXXERUK
glad it's sorted, what was the problem, what was the knocking ? worn big end shells which damaged the crank ?
Jared350z
glad it's sorted, what was the problem, what was the knocking ? worn big end shells which damaged the crank ? It was the bearings, big end that were on the way out was a ticking time bomb, surprised it lasted that long. From now on I'm only putting nanodrive oil and shell V-power in her. Jared350z
I was an unusual ticking noise though from when it first started, just a heads up to anyone if you think its anything else. Originally it sounded like a hole in a manifold gasket.
