Jetpilot
Has the world gone mad, lowest quote i could get for a 1.4 Nissan Cube is a shade over £300!!!!!! I am 43, live in a nice area, no points, 9+ years no claims. My Zed is only a £100 or there abouts more than that (ltd 5000 miles) all mods declared and 4 trackdays thrown in!! I personally cant see i am a risk or a 1.4 Nissan Cube thats worth £3k!!!!!!!!!!!!!
martinmac
1.4 Honda Civic for my wife who is around the same age was £270. Live in a village in the lakes. That quote sounds too high.
Jetpilot
That was a general compare the market and almost the same from my daily driver insurer who is Lifesure (usually staggering cheap) I guess we have the uninsured drivers and "whiplash" culture to thank!! hensh65
That sounds about right to me tbh, the only variable rating factor is the car. If you are low risk then the car shouldn't make that much of a difference. Most insurance companies either start everyone with a min price and add on for the bad ratings or they start high and deducte. Your area, age, job etc might be a higher rating factor and the car infact isn't the biggest variable
370Ad
Put that you have owned the car for the same amount of years as the Z then it will drop. If you have had the car longer the cheaper the insurance (Rule of thumb).

skyinsurance
Put that you have owned the car for the same amount of years as the Z then it will drop. If you have had the car longer the cheaper the insurance (Rule of thumb). No, put the length of time you have actually owned the car, not something made up. Lexx
Put that you have owned the car for the same amount of years as the Z then it will drop. If you have had the car longer the cheaper the insurance (Rule of thumb). That is an idiotic piece of advice. Lying to your insurance company is great.....till you have an accident and find out your insurance is void.
Jetpilot
If am capable of navigating 5 Rx7's and 350z's and numerous sports bikes round for 10 - 15 years without incident i am sure i can manage a 1.4 It shouldnt be about having to be "cute" with what you say to insurance companies it should be based on risk, not topping up the uninsured driver funds and whiplash claim culture! I think you all took this the wrong way (Or I didn't explain myself properly)...I wasn't actually saying to buy a quote with this information. But you can't compare insurance on a brand new vehicle to you against one you have owned for 5 years. As the longer you have owned a car the cheaper insurance is. So I was saying to the OP to get a quote for the cube using the same timeframe of owning the Z....as this would give a fairer comparison. I have never in the history of my motoring had insurance decrease regardless how long i have owned a particular car, despite another years claim and conviction free motoring, it is in fact the complete opposite, i have to battle every year to even keep it the same I wont point fingers but i have just had a quote from a specialist for more than i am paying for my 350z import (owned 9 months)! 370Ad
That's a shame bud...! Hope you find a decent quote soon. For example with me on the Z with all the same other details: Haven't purchased the car yet - 345 Owned one year - 332 Owned 2 years - 321 Owned 5 years - 290 So there is one good thing for keeping a car longer!
