Hi there all,

When you make your way to the show tomorrow, please be aware that there are a few other shows on called Haigh Show, around the area that we are having ours.

Please look for the Japan North Logo below:

JapanNorthLogo.png

If you do not see this, then the sign you have seen is not for the car show.

Also, Haigh Hall have a Sunday Carvery, which is on until 4pm tomorrow, so you could always book onto that tomorrow for some tea before leaving if you wished.

All the best and I look forward to meeting you...

Best regards,

Jamie

Hey there everyone,

Well, from the repsoneses on initial arrival this morning and upon departure this afternoon, it seems everyone wants a repetition next year as an annual event.

This was the first Japan North Event and as I say, from what was said to me, it shall not be the last.

I will post up a link in due course to images of the event and the excellent turn that took place.

All the best,

Jamie Rigby

Japan North Event Organiser.

Hey Jamie,

Thanks for organising this. It was great to see a car show up north for once.

I know it was only the first year but i do have some constructive criticism if i may:

The event was pretty quiet, K&M acoustics were right at the end and the only ones making some noise which made it feel like there was no "atomsphere".

Maybe it was down to Haigh Hall restrictions or my expectations but i expected their to be more cars and more attractions so to speak. Again i know it was the first year so hopefully the 350z-uk.com can contribute next year.

I know it wasn't a show and shine event either and i'm all for cars being used for their purposes but some hadn't even been cleaned. I mean one or two of the car clubs where as expected imaculate, but their were a good handfull which handn't seen a bucket of water in weeks. I know theirs nothing much you can do so i guess this is down to the individual.

The quality of cars seemed to be really hit and miss. Some were perfect examples and some where dog rough.

Last but not least, Advertisement! I live in wigan and only saw one sign just before i got to Haigh Hall saying an event was on. I even drove past the Front gates of Haigh Hall (near the hospital) and only saw that their was a "craft Fair" on?? I looked on the Haigh Hall website and found nothing? I didn't look but was it in the Wigan Reporter? Most people locally read that?

Anyway again, thankyou for organising this event. I know how hard it is to get something going like this. The Lexus guys did you proud as they where probably the best presented club there. I was surprised to see soo many supercharged/turbocharged Altezza's. I'm guessing the TTE supercharger is factory backed?

Anyway a big thumbs up!!

Hi there,

Firstly, the show was advertised in the Wigan Evening Post, Banzai and also the Bolton Evening News - as well as on the other car enthusiast magazine websites.

Sadly, I only had access to an A4 printer so those were printed off, laminated and placed at the entrance at both ends and along the drive to the venue. Everything for this show has come out of my pocket, including the Public Liability Insurance so I hope you can appreciate that for a first year, I couldn't get everything spot on - particularly difficult for a 20 year old.

I was refused the right to place posters around the Aspull area where people attending the show would be passing through, so obviously that caused a lot of problems... Plus I wasn't allowed to put the signs up before the day, so had to get there for 6am to put the signs up on for the day.

It seemed as though there were many people who didn't want this day to go ahead due to the barriers that were placed in my way but thankfully it did and the response has been positive despite a few comments.

With regards to K&M, they requested to be placed on the very end due to the low pressure of their bass van as they have had instances in the past where they have shattered windows.

I do appreciate the feedback though and I assure you my response is not at all bitter, but merely trying to enlighten you to the issues I faced this year. Any feedback is greatly received, however, hopefully you'll understand the predicament I was put in for this show.

All the best and hopefully you will be able to raise enough interest to have your own stand next year, as it would be great to have you along.

Kind regards,

Jamie

Its always going to be hard for new events to become established, without people like yourself persevereing many of todays established and well attended events may not even exist.

As the years go on, hopefully the attendance will grow and the local businesses will find a way to capitalise on the event and therefore support it rather than hinder it.

All the best for the future, and Im sure next year you can expect more from 350z-uk.com to attend, just give us plenty of notice and we can get the event put in the calendar on the site

Hi Jamie,

I totally understand, and i know it must have been very difficult to organise and drum up support for an event like this.

Why did they not let you put up posters before the event?

I've seen posters up for the coming Bank Holiday weekend today (double standards)?

Why did Aspull in particular stop you putting up stuff?

I can see why you found it pretty tough. And to be truthfull i expected that from the local council. They hate Boy racers out on the street but when something official and an organised event comes along they don't give any kind of support.

Anyway, should you need a helping hand (i live local), especially with the printing next year then don't hesitate to PM me.

Regards,

Chris

Jamie, sounds like you did a great job given the obstacles put in your way. It looks as if you're going to persevere and no doubt the event will grow and improve year on year. Anyone who puts themselves out there to organise (and pay for) such an event (especially in the North where we're poorly served  ) deserves all of our support. Well done, mate!

Hi there,

Thank you for the responses and obviously now that you have read the situation you can see a little more clearly why it was slightly difficult.

It was the Council and Planning Department itself that rejected the request for posters to be placed around the borough. However, due to the positive feedback this year, I am hopeful that next year we will be granted the right to do so.

There will be much more preparation for next year's show and once again you will be invited as a whole.

There are many companies who have expressed their interest of attending this event next year and as a result, I will struggle to accomodate everyone at this year's venue; Haigh Hall.

Finally, thank you for the offer of support, I will no doubt take you up on this next year lol :)

Many thanks and all the best,

Jamie

Hey there everyone,

Just thought I would revive this topic to say that the show had a review in Japanese Performance Magazine on page 115.

Thank you to all that attended the show and hope you are all well.

All the best,

Jamie

(P.S. As things develop for next year's Japan North, I will start a new topic.)
