350z Android tablet + aftermarket sub install!

The amps at the moment are sitting under the boot floor, where the spare wheel used to be. Either I'll build a new floor above them, that lifts on a hinge off the bottom edge of the sub box, or i'll move the amps to the empty space behind the driver seat (in the cabin where the OEM sub used to be)

I think that would be probably the most sensible place for the amps. ;)

The rain has held me out for a few days, so I couldn't carry on with the build. Still haven't received the carpet, so couldn't finish the box, but I've done the amp rack and fitted it behind the seat!

Although, in all my playing around, I've managed to generate a power leak in the car, it's killed off a brand new battery overnight. So need to find the leak now! Fun times :)

I also had to hot glue the edges of the box, as the sawdust mix left some small gaps. It looked airtight, but I thought I may aswel be doubly sure, wouldn't want to rip the carpet off if i find a leak later on.

Installed and tested!! The bass is very tight and clean and does drop low; there's zero rattle that I can hear when it drops hard (and that's without using any Dynamat).

This box is 100% better than installing an aftermarket sub in the OEM bose location - no doubt whatsoever.

I messed up the box a bit, as it sticks out by just under an inch on the left hand side of the above photo. But not enough for me to care. I'm not great at woodworking, but has done the job well for me.

I now have my bootspace back, and my amps are all hidden and neatly installed! I put my spare tyre back in, as that holds the boot floor up very well - easier than building a new floor for now.

Job done.

I'm wondering if I can get a Car audio place to fit a nexus 7 into my dash...

In my last 3 cars I've always used tablets windscreen mounted for navigation. Thankfully the windscreens were quote low slung so it didn't intrude vision too much.

Your implementation of Nexus in cubby is exactly what I want!

If you want andriod, why not go for a Hudl? Cheap as chips especially if you use you Tesco club card points. It not that hard to build and install a tablet, the hardest bit is getting hold of a sat nav cubby.
